You could try their offline activation link:

https://exception.licenses.adobe.com/aoes/aoes/v1/t1?locale=en

If your CD of Illustrator's product ID is still in the database that that link connects to you could be in luck! Doubtful, but worth a try...?

Welcome! Glad you found our tiny little outpost of outcasts here in the Land that Time Forgot... 8-)

Not to be a pooty parper , but unless you've got some of the applications that the Indigo2 was designed to run, for example Pro/ENGINEER, Power Animator, Maya, etc., then even a high end Indigo2 isn't going to be very useful. Or, at least not very useful for anything here in the Modern Era. You could argue, and in fact we argue about it a lot, that a higher end Octane2, Fuel, O350/Tezro are still useful for a tiny handful of tasks that the Modern Era would still consider relevant. Though I think the majority opinion here would tend to slant against that viewpoint. And that would the opinion of people who still really love these machines. I know I love mine (2x600MHz Octane2 and 2x700MHz Tezro)...

Thanks for posting that, gotta admit there are a bunch of those that I did not know about! Then again there are many who argue cogently that *nix administration tools were deliberately obfuscated in order to pad the bottom line of *nix vendor's field service departments...

That won't work, I've tried it. They will just flip their response book to the unsupported version page and then lobby you buy the latest and greatest. Steve Jobs was right, Adobe sucks... :|

Only if the soft delete mod is in place, which I doubt it is, it hasn't been updated in 6 years and doesn't work with newer versions of phpbb, or, at least it doesn't work very well: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/soft_delete/

The lone Illustrator release that Adobe did for IRIX is notoriously buggy, I agree with robespierre you might have hit upon one of the unresolvable bugs. Illustrator won't start at all on systems using VPro graphics, it hangs before even getting the splash screen up...

As a bit of an aside I hasten to point out that your typical Hollywood-quality digital compositor (for example Shake, which I have on my Octane) has incredible color correction capability, to ensure that cgi's, from Maya or Lightwave or whatever, that are being composited into film frames don't look weirdly off...

I think after IRIX 6.5.22 you have to use the Adobe-provided DPS from the Illustrator CD.

I guess that's why they call it the blues...

Display PostScript NX software is a host-based program that contains a PostScript interpreter. Instead of being integrated with the X Window System as in the Display PostScript extension to X, the interpreter communicates with the X server in the same way an application does—by means of X protocol. Because it does not depend on the presence of the Display PostScript extension, Display PostScript NX software lets your Display PostScript application display on any X server.

Rule of thumb for RISC has always been that it performs about as well as a twice-as-fast Intel CPU. So, a 600 MHz MIPS should rival a 1.2GHz Intel pentium whatever. And as others have mentioned there are gradations depending upon task specifics. I vividly remember how much faster MIPS was at mixed million line C, C++ and fortran compiles, compared to top shelf Intel running gcc/g++ under Linux in the late 90s. Sadly MIPS could not maintain that dominance as Intel was outspending them 100 to 1 in R&D. Owning 99 percent of the market, mediocre product nothwithstanding, has its benefits.

Pete do you mind me asking who you're buying your Megapath circuit from? How many IP addresses do you get with that? I assume you need at least three, one for each of the two nameservers and one for the site itself? I'm CTO for the website soyouvebeendumped.com and we've always run it out of various ISP's datacenters, and it's always been a nightmare, I'd dearly love to run it from my basement the way you've always run this happy little insane asylum...

Dual Ultrasparc iii Cu's, nice! Those were the speed upgraded version of the original iii, which maxed out at 900 MHz. What's it got for graphics? I never had a Blade 1000, I went from an Ultra 60 straight to a Blade 2500, which I liked so much that I bought one for home...

Its got a XVR1200 card that was sitting in a 33mhz PCI slot, removed the expansion option (frame lock),two little fans, they do little to nothing.
There is more than sufficient air circulation , and I have another system with exactly the same config :) Same motherboard in SB1k and 2K

I stuck an XVR1200 in mine a while back, while certainly not state of the art anymore it is nice. Pic I took before I put it in:

Ha ha, will do. I just put it back together...disassembled it, cleaned it - inside and out, and reassembled. I'd of made Chip Foose proud.

I try to clean my computers out once a year. Well, the ones I use regularly anyway. A good air compressor makes that much less of a daunting task than would otherwise be the case.

It's amazing the thick wad of dust that builds up in them. My computer room has laminate flooring and I clean in there frequently, those don't get bad but the ones over carpet get a lot of dust buildup.

I wish I had one room big enough for all my computers, currently they're spread over three rooms and they're all dominated by dust bunnies.
