neko_nmap-4.20.tardist

I've tested the command line and GUI and both seem to be working well. The GUI is now GTK2 based (more dependancies) but it's an optional install.

neko_mysql-5.0.12.tardist

This is a repack of joerg's 5.0.24 tardist using the compilation instructions and scripts he provided for that release. 5.0.12 is the last known fully working 5.0.x version under IRIX and is the same version I've used to power Nekochan's forums, blog and wiki (since late 2005). 5.0.24 has some serious crash bugs when used in conjunction with PHP apps and I want to get it out of the Nekoware distribution ASAP.

I had some time to tackle it this evening; did a minor version bump to 2.2.13 (current stable) and updated the dependancy list. It's now in /beta.

Oh, no problem at all - joerg's 'nekoprereq' script made it a breeze. I figured I'd knock it out of the way while updating a couple other packages.

... and this is already obsolete. The mysql folks isolated the issue with mysql that caused the crashing bug under IRIX; I was able to get mysql-5.0.33 up and running without an issue. I'll remove the package from /beta ;)

Well as far as Nekoware goes, new packages would need to be created but it's definitely possible. I run my own custom php5/mysql5 packages for Nekochan.net and it works just fine.

Who have made the neko_binutils package?

This package only contains one image wich also not use the term sw.eoe. There is no dist, src, relnotes files. It would be fine if every package contains all the standard informations.

Btw. is there any risk when installing the binutils and use mips cc as default compilier. The usr/nekoware/bin is the first in $PATH when i compile software for nekoware and i expect some kind of trobule. Or is mips cc smart enough and use its own linker, assember?

Joerg

That package came from regan_russell; he sent me a PM when he uploaded it but didn't post to the forum afterward. I don't keep gcc installed on my IRIX systems (to remove temptation) so I've no easy way to test it.

I'm amazed how fast this system is overall. It completely blows away my (former) dual 600 Octane. Even the R14K 600MHz Fuel I'm currently rebuilding is amazingly fast compared to the Octane.

Which is exactly why I wound up selling my Octane2; detractors be damned. Fuels simply rock :)

Yep - you need manually set your time closer to the actual time first (within a couple minutes is fine). openntpd can't make enormous corrections to the time like that (your clock appears to be off by 1.43 hours at the moment).

Yes - it uses adjtime to "adjust the system's notion of the current time, as returned by gettimeofday(3C), advancing or retarding it by the amount of time specified in the struct timeval pointed to by delta." It's not designed for huge leaps; it was designed to make minor adjustments to the clock to keep it in sync by slowing/speeding up the clock.

Also keep in mind we're talking about openntpd here (neko_ntpd), not standard ntpd.

You would be better off attaching an Octane to wide display; the O2 really only supports the 1600sw via widescreen. There is no adapter on the market (to my knowledge) that would convert the FPA's LVDS output to a DVI output (though the Multilink goes the other way, allowing the LVDS 1600sw to attach to a DVI graphics card).

A V10/V12 Octane would have no trouble connecting to a 24" Dell TFT.

I'm using a Dell 24" LCD with a V8 equipped Octane at 1920x1200 - so a V8 could go on that list as well.

I don't recommend the V6/V8 for TFT due to the timing bug, but they do "work" in a manner of speaking.

It's some sort of libiconv problem - I experience the same thing. It looks like whatever version of libiconv it's using (according to Joerg's research above it's using the IRIX supplied version) is statically linked:

Code:
% ldd blender
libmalloc.so  =>         /usr/lib32/libmalloc.so
libfastm.so  =>  /usr/lib32/libfastm.so

libmutex.so  =>  /usr/lib32/libmutex.so
libawareaudio.so  =>     /usr/lib32/libawareaudio.so    delay-load

... so no way to try a different version that I can see.

Not captcha related, but it's a bit odd that there isn't a link back to the nekochan home page on the wiki.

Eh ... what?

I just added some additional links under navigation - it's simply an edit of http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/index.php/ ... ki:Sidebar (anyone could have done so; this is a wiki after all).

Hehe :) Well it was the product of a graphics tablet and probably more than a bit of annoyance - the captcha extension was a pain in the butt to configure/install and then I found (what I perceived) to be gripes about things "other than captcha" and it torqued me more than it should have. I've had a night's sleep since and I apologize if I offended anyone.

I just don't have time to do anything with the mips3 Nekoware at the moment (perhaps this summer). Maybe someone else will pick it up.

There's already a Samba in nekoware-mips3; if you can't get swat working just configure it manually - it's not that hard.

So the entire thing falls apart if you switch to another compiler. Obviously not an option back in the day when the entire UNIX tool chain pretty much came from him, but nowadays that would be rough to pull off :)

Works great! Only issue I can see is that distributing as a *.zip loses the execute bit on 'addtobg' and 'install' (which is why tar files compressed with gzip/bzip are so prevalent ;) ).

The official link will be up on Blender.org by tomorrow, but until then you can get it from here:

I will probably modify the link above once it is available from Blender.org, but I thought I would give everyone a head start.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Yafray would need to be recompiled against the latest OpenEXR - you probably have the newer libIlmImf.so.5 libraries installed from neko_OpenEXR-1.4.0a.tardist.

I see ......

Anyone good with compiling yafray.. ....?

I think Charles did the 0.0.9 tardist but I'm sure he's pretty busy right now. In the meantime I've pulled the old libraries from the obsolete neko_OpenEXR-1.2.0a.tardist and stuck them here:

http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/downloads/nekon ... ibs.tar.gz

Code:
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     sys        293836 May  8 14:10 libHalf.so.3*
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     sys        291140 May  8 14:08 libIex.so.3*
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     sys       2003432 May  8 13:53 libIlmImf.so.3*
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     sys        115772 May  8 14:06 libImath.so.3*

If you uncompress and place these files inside your libpath someplace (i.e. /usr/nekoware/lib) it should allow the current yafray tardist to run.
