Another clue may be that this machine can't record decent audio from the microphone port. It turns my voice into an 80s synthesizer with distortion cranked up to the max.

Does the song Intergalactic come to mind? ;)

Was IBM's 8-port MCA serial adapter compatible with 1.3? I have a Model 80 here that looks like a perfect rig to run on and hang loads of terminals off that.

Tried it on a Quattro card.
The end result was the ASCII table covering my screen in a blinking, scrolling rainbow mess.

It uses those blasted DDR2 mini-DIMMs. So that's (possibly) why my shop shipped almost 1000 sticks to china recently.

Anyways, that was suprisingly unexpected and refreshing.

I remember worrying about that place when they first mentioned they ahd cooling problems and thought thit was going to all be okay in a day.
Of course, it exploding was the first thing I wake up to this morning....
Hopefully that is the climax of the situation there.

I know people in a suburb of Tokyo however while I have not heard if they are alright yet, I would assume they are all fine as they were still quite far.

Was bored today and was fed up looking for a 13W3 adapter so pulled out the iron and a few things around the shop.

Means I can only use one GIO slot but oh well, it's not like I don't have three more of the damn systems.

I remember that the entire XIO card cage slid out when you removed a couple screws so first check to see if that side can be easily opened up first.

I'm sorry.
I'm just going to just stand here and laugh because people would rather spend so much time trying to prove someone was not from their country.
I guess if for the last ten years we had to deal witht he 9/11 garbage like Loose Change, the next ten years will be people insisting that he's not an american, simply under the sleazy guise that he's black and it's all a conspiracy.

I remember aeeing a twin tower with keyboard and mouse at the Super Potato for around 20000 yen last summer. Even over there they are still pretty expensive so it isn't just import fees that you are getting dinged on.

Attempting to run 2.0.0.22 which I believe is the latest on the nekoware mirror and everything should be running at defaults. It seems that the same problem is affecting Thunderbird as well.

From what the folks on the IRC are telling me, either my hair is on fire or there is something missing from sqlite3 that everyone else somehow, possibly from files left over from upgrading an older version of sqlite still have, hence how they are not getting the same problem. sqlite3_os_switch was removed back in 3.5.0.

Hey! You!

YOU
YOU
YOU
YOU

You look bored. You aren't ? Stop lying because you are !
Want to have fun without the nasty side effects of waking up half naked in the Nevada desert and with a nasty itch? It's E A S Y !

From the makers of the AsbestO's breakfast cereal and the mercury filled beer can cooler, it's

I N T E R N E T
R E L A Y
C H A T

Shortnamed IRC , it was developed sometime after the extinction of the dinosaurs and the birth of Copernicus as a method to send ASCII smiley faces to the disgruntled employee in the neighboring office plaza. It also however had the unexpected result of allowing people to communicate with eachother over far distances.
It is through great honor that with the generous donation from a drugged up hobo that Nekochan actually runs an IRC server which we nickname THE BABBAGE ANALYTICAL TIMESHARING SERVICE .

Through its conception , even unregistered users of our forum can connect and usually almost immediately get in touch with another basement dwelling IT nut to help answer almost any question. In one case we even helped dismantle an atomic bomb .*

Want to connect? It's E A S Y !

First, download the IRC client of your choice . It's available for pretty much every computer (or phone, or watch, or PDA or Honda Civic ECU) made since the Tabulating Machine. Even your highschool Scantron machine supported an IRC client.

Simply connect to IRC.NEKOCHAN.NET and join #nekochan and be amazed for hours as you can participate in or even observe some of the most constructive discussions this side of the known universe!

* Actual situation may vary, we were all pretty drunk and none really remember what happened.
Also, please don't feed the Kira. She bites.

For a moment I was all confused why your battery was in a different position than mine. Then I realized you are rocking it with an R4K Indigo. :)

I find that you can get as many CR2032's as you need from any PeeCee you get your hands on. It's about a penny each if you get them and most of the time they are still good.

I'm being asked to switch iBooks (they are identical units but one has a working backlight) and I can't seem to get Apple Software Update to work. I need it too otherwise I can't run the migration utility.
In a blue DV iBook with a fresh 10.3 install and a working wired internet connection, Software Update will time out and give error -1001. My current ibook does it too and this has been tested on multiple ethernet cables and switch ports. I last knew it worked about three months ago. I have run a permissions fix but if it's not working on a fresh install I am suspicious.

Well that works in terms of updating but that does not load the rest of the updates and thus I'm not sure if I can perform the migration cleanly.

It's a wired connection to the wall. AirPort isn't connected.
What really confuses me is that it's not working either on the old iBook which only three months ago was grabbing updates no problem. I'll try using it at another internet connection today.

Nope. On a different internet connection it's still the same. Weird.

Well ball, that confirms my suspicion that Apple is cutting off people from updating their older systems.
Well I'll just have to figure out how to do imaging.

I'm trying the disk utility method but the destination drive just idles and eventually spins down after a while.

Put the old ibook into target disk mode and fired up disk utility on another mac to try and make an image. that I could later use with the installer to restore everything on the other ibook.
No matter what I try it won't let me make an image because it insists the device is busy even though nothing is using the drive and no windows are open.

I hope it will be soon available for Linux distros. As far as I can remember, CDE was an option on some early Red Hat releases.

If Arch got it I would give Linux a second thought.

Firewire was b0rked. Did some voodoo involving drawing power over firewire through an ipod charger and a data connection over USB. After I got an image to an external drive things went smoothly after that.

It's a Proliant 8000 (or 8500). I had a couple of them at a previous job. They were the cat's meow in 1999/2000 - and yes, they were about $100K each.

IIRC, we ran Win2K Server on them. I don't remember their being any really exotic drivers, but there might have been a HAL disk to manage the 8-way procs.

If I recall, you required Windows 2000 Advanced Server or Windows 2000 Datacenter Server to support 8-way systems.
How much power does that thing consume? It looks like something really cool to run but I would gather a smaller 4-way DL580 could outperform it.

Not really a movie but a newly released remake of the video game Half-Life has a model of a multirack Origin 2000.

It explodes into a pile of PC parts if you break it with a crobar.

PARTY IS OVER FOLKS. NOTHING TO SEE HERE. MOVE ALONG.

No, I ahve not unglued.

I have decided to leave the hobbyist and A/V computer field permanently and leave just a desktop and a laptop. There's a lot of stuff to go.

**SAMPLE**

This is just the tip of it. There's a crawlspace and staircase crammed full of stuff plus odds and ends in another room. There's even MORE systems currently in storage (including all my SGI iron) but they will become availalable in the coming months.
I got everything and anything you can dream of and the list would be ten miles long. There's also TONS of software and documentation.

As stated, it's all free HOWEVER there is one catch.

You have to take it ALL . No picking. Either you take everything at once or you take none of it. You're going to need a decent sized U-haul and a crap ton of boxes.
YOU MUST ALSO BE LOCAL. I WILL NOT BE SHIPPING ANYTHING.
If you refuse tot ake it for free, donations are welcome.

PM if interested, or to ensure I'm not totally off my rocker.
