PARTY IS OVER FOLKS. NOTHING TO SEE HERE. MOVE ALONG.

No, I ahve not unglued.

I have decided to leave the hobbyist and A/V computer field permanently and leave just a desktop and a laptop. There's a lot of stuff to go.

**SAMPLE**

This is just the tip of it. There's a crawlspace and staircase crammed full of stuff plus odds and ends in another room. There's even MORE systems currently in storage (including all my SGI iron) but they will become availalable in the coming months.
I got everything and anything you can dream of and the list would be ten miles long. There's also TONS of software and documentation.

As stated, it's all free HOWEVER there is one catch.

You have to take it ALL . No picking. Either you take everything at once or you take none of it. You're going to need a decent sized U-haul and a crap ton of boxes.
YOU MUST ALSO BE LOCAL. I WILL NOT BE SHIPPING ANYTHING.
If you refuse tot ake it for free, donations are welcome.

PM if interested, or to ensure I'm not totally off my rocker.

Has his account been hacked ? If this is actually pentium I hope things are not as bad as it sounds. I've enjoyed reading about you collecting most of this stuff over the years. Is there a woman involved ? That is usually what makes us make drastic changes. Stick it all in storage if you can afford it. Friends garage even. You may miss it one day.
Ooooh, I see that Crimson flashing at me.......then I realize that there's a crapload of water between our countries.
If I can't fix it I can fix it so it can't be fixed.

You'll need a boat anyway because it's everything or nothing
To accentuate the special identity of the IRIS 4D/70, Silicon Graphics' designers selected a new color palette. The machine's coating blends dark grey, raspberry and beige colors into a pleasing harmony. ( IRIS 4D/70 Superworkstation Technical Report )

You don't need to know what happened exactly but the fallout is that a lot of space needs to be made and pretty fast.

... holy crap. This is bad. :|

Don't know what happened, but even if it's true and you have to get rid of everything, don't let it be *everything*. Keep at least one (small? is that even possible for such a collection?) toy that you hold dear.

I can't afford sending a container across the Atlantic, otherwise I'd gladly offer to store your stuff in my garage until I'm 100% sure you want it gone. :)

No details needed. I once threw my entire collection into a dumpster from a second story balcony a system at a time. I had 24 hours to vacate and nobody to take them. Sun 1's,2's, and 3's among a lot of other pretty early machines.

Machines can always be replace when life gets less crazy. Still don't have a Sun 1 again but, I have enough to play with.
Jesus Christ, that is a huge collection man, I am very sorry to hear that you have to part ways with it. I have the space to take it all but... in Spain, hehe :| . Anyway, have you consider to donate the most valuable machines to a museum?

I can't take the whole thing, but if you need someone to stash a few favorite machines (exact number depending on volume and weight) for a year or two I can come up with some space. Not sure when or if I could come up, though (my wife would need a visa to get to Can).

Well, a plane ticket plus a one way U Haul plus gas would put me a bit past $3000 to come pick this all up so I'm out of the running... I really hope everything is OK, or at least as OK as it can be. GL finding a new home for this amazing collection.
There's a possibility (reasonable) that I could be available in the beginning of November - HOWEVER:

I could keep some systems for a year or two for Pentium, but more than that would equal angry wife + angry parents, which is not a good combination. To prevent that, unfortunately the collection would need to be broken up pretty rapidly (as in ~2 weeks). IOW, people would need to be interested in the machines, interested enough to (a) cover my expenses in getting them and parceling them out and (b) get Pentium some return on his investment - I know he didn't get them for free.

There might be a couple of others in WA interested - possibly Bear, maybe Josh D. (don't know if he's on here), perhaps the person who's name I can't remember in Federal Way. Drop me a line if any of you are interested and could possibly help in the run.

The undisclosed situation here has further gone sour. :(

Just get in your car and get over here. Truck, trailer, hatchback, roof rack...whatever.

Just get this stuff out of my house. It all has to go. From thousands of floppy disks to an R3K Indigo signed by Gavin Blair.

I probably can't get there fast enough, then.

You might want to post to the rescue list ( www.sunhelp.org ) and/or the classiccmp list.

Sorry Pentium, if I weren't way overloaded on storage already... But I am, and we're expecting layoffs by the end of the year. Willing to help if somebody else can act and needs a hand.

Great Noodle Monster in the sky...

I have always, ALWAYS wanted an SGI Iris Crimson. It's porn with 8 corners. I have dreamed of owning that computer since the day I saw it in IRIS Magazine in the early 90s.

This is absolutely incredible. I was considering having one shipped but they are like 150 pounds which, from Kentucky, is not a small challenge, and they aren't easy to find either.

I don't have the room or time to haul all the equipment unfortunately. But here is what I can unequivocally offer: I can absolutely take the Iris Crimson, it would be a dream come true to have one so close and available. On top of that, if you will permit it as well, I can take the Apple II, and the SGI Octane and O2 as well.

And... if that mention of a NeXT Cube is true and it's available, I can take that as well.
