'real' ftp servers never have a gui.

Yeah, you only need a gui if you're running a "kiddie" server OS like windows "server!" Real admins have no use for such things! :D

Still, your best bet would probably be the web configuration package mentioned before in this thread. I've never used it ( I <3 my command line :P ), but IIRC I've read good things about it in one of those linux magizines.

Goddamn I f*cking hate Macro$haft more and more every minute. Glad as hell I don't use their shit. Besides, DX sucks, and they're just trying to be the only game platform again now that macs are closing in. Kill OGL? What a stupid idea! There goes Cinema 4D and a bunch of other programs!
:!:

Every os release they just fuck the customer deeper and deeper in the ass!

WHERE'S THE CLASS ACTION SUIT! Goddamnit they fucking lied when they said they couldn't dis-integrate IE from windows, and now they're integrating more shit! SOMEONE NEEDS TO SPLIT THEM UP! :x

Unfortunately with George W. Bushlicker in office, aka the corporate whore, that's unlikely to happen.

Fuck this shit.

My origin 200 brought me to the forum, all the problems I had needed a solution. And I found one here, so I'm not leaving :)

I think I can beat you with the age thing :-D My first contact with a real SGI was at my Northwestern internship when I was in 7th grade. It was an Octane with a crapped-out motherboard. (Heart asic issues, press down on the heat sink, anyone remember that glitch?) They gave me the machine, as they were beign phased-out anyways, and I wired my own 13w3 to BNC adapter so I could use it on the monitor I have for my HP-UX boxes.

I loved it to death, more than my suns and HPs-- almost as much as my beloved NeXTcube, and eventually, I got sick of only being able to use it for 13 minutes at a time before it crashed. So... new frontplane (it originally had an XBOW 1.2!), light bar, 1gb of extra ram, new motherboard, upgraded to dual 250s from dual 175 (yes, 175s. this was a VERY early octane), and a complete 6.5 media set to replace 6.4-- now it's my main SGI, but it also started my addiction, and since then, I've acquired an O2, and 2 Onyx RE2s (A deskside and a rack-- BTW, the deskside sorely needs parts, see my plea in the hardware wanted forum. I'm also looking to by an MXE for my Octane)

And that was my first interaction with the big purple, green, blue, and black monsters.

Even the NeXTCube has to go?
So I recently purchased a SparcBook 3TX... I just got a job (ironically enough with a Redmond-based company directly responsible for killing the the unix boxes we all know and love) and graduated, so I went a little apeshit with my offer and spent a fair bit too much-- Neat machine, but Ok, CDE. Cool. Now what?

The thing was starting to get pretty boring, and buyer's remorse is a bitch I did not feel like dealing with.

I wanted to get OpenStep mach running, but there's no sparc driver for the P9100 under it.

So, OpenStep Solaris it is then...

Now I'm having a bit more fun.. 8-)

Hey, that's pretty hot. The closest thing I have in my collection to a SPARCBook is my "luggable" Solbourne S3000 with that feel-the-heat orange monochrome gas plasma display. Even has the case!

Dude that solbourne is the SHIT!
A retina-searing classic.

Wherever did you find that thing?! No lie, I'm a bit jealous...

Well if you get tired of it send me a pm... I've seen 3 of these online in the past year and have missed each one well still waiting on the one richtom had but he is MIA it seems... I mean what better thing could there be to set on the dinette of a 1974 winnabago :P (SS20 sure wont fit not with even my sony monitor lol)

I'm a big fan of sparc chips in moving vehicles. I will be traveling home with it shortly, maybe I'll get a shot of it running for 5 minutes off the battery on the plane.

I missed an ebay auction that went super cheap and vowed not to mess it up again.

When you say richtom do you mean Tom C. from rescue? If so I have some bad news-- I may have beat you to the punch. 8-)

I've had fantastic luck with my NEC EA231Wmi-- It works great on my Onyx 2 at full res!

FWIW, I've noticed this too and also tracked it down to relays on the IO6G.

I also assume it's some audio-modeswitch glitch.

I never got beyond this...

Sorry if this has been done before... Not sure, haven't been on nekochan in a while.

But ever since buying the Replicator I've wanted to do this... and perhaps even before that. :D

In an earlier post I managed to print a very, very small one of these, but this is the first one I've been able to print at a reasonable size... had to add supports, and clean up the mesh.

The best part? This is not s remake-- this is a physical build of the cleaned up, converted geometry I extracted from one of the iris demos :)

Hey, I'm looking to buy an Onyx system controller, I just bought a Terminator rack and the SC is kaput. Anyone got one? i'd like to get this 800LB beast running soon, and will happily pay. Thanks.
Yep, I robbed a desk side which I is how I knew the syscltlr was the issue ;)
Anyhow my sig isn't current I only have the one desk side now :(
I imported some English language Nokia communicators from the UK-- the original EL-backlit monochrome 640x200 486-based ones that run Geos which were never sold here in the US.

They're pretty neat, and I have one in reasonably good cosmetic shape with a new battery and charger I'd like to trade for a similar device:

a Psion 5MX.

They are unlocked but most GSM US carriers don't have the correct bands. They work most places abroad though, and are rather cool palmtops. There is a way to break out of Geos into ROM DOS.

Probably the only one you'll find stateside... :)
