exactly that's why i like it and things like this. no bloated blinking toy but just exactly what's needed. ideal :)

please feel free to comment for any future feature you like ;)

oh you can count on that :P

the nice thing is on irix you can have both. the sgi desktop or cde ... however you feel

hehe yeah i guess most people wouldn't choose cde with irix but some multi platform installations used it to keep it uniform across different unix systems.

haha true i remember running kde version 1 for testing purposes on the alpha. it sucked :P
cde was okay tho. especially with those extra buttons the sun keyboards had it was quite neat to use. that's actually the only good thing i remember from using solaris on the desktop :P

indeed, here is the original hinv thread viewtopic.php?t=8366
looks like Oskar45 was the first to enjoy that sort of v12 :)

anyway i can't complain and didn't notice any curious behavior so far. maybe it just was an early model ...

flame is the bigger brother of flint so nothing new to learn there. it just has more stuff than flint but usage and all is the same.

anyway i wasn't able to find either flint or inferno on autocrap's site anymore. only flame and smoke.
however instead they seem to offer advanced versions of both products with more features.

try:
Code:
bool mx_str_find(char *haystack, char *needle, int &start, bool match_case)

then check for the function calls and make sure you always specify match_case because now we don't have the default to TRUE anymore

hehe they might rather list where it's not missing :P
why do people use stuff that's not available anywhere? :P

okay i went ahead and removed some affected function calls but it never seems to end. pretty much the whole menu thingy is incompatible. no dice here ...

well it's where the first crash happens. however as mentioned a lot of x functions seem to crash it so maybe it's something else?
the rest of the window shows up just fine tho. it's the menus in particular.

maybe it's not the irix version but the gfx card. mgras and vpro have the same issues so i assumed it was irix. gonna try on an ir2 ...

_________________
r-a-c.de
just tried with an ir2 and it runs just fine :P
so it's indeed the gfx card.

Nice to have options! 8-)

yes and no hehe. unfortunately the onyx is just too loud for longer, serious sessions so i guess i'll either put the old app back onto the shelf or run it on the indigo2. however r4400 and extreme gfx might be not as much fun as the r12000 ir2 onyx :P

hmm maybe i should upgrade the indigo to r10000 and impact. some models could do that iirc just not sure anymore on what it depended ...

looks like i could use some more indigo2 ram. the more the better except the big modules because it should work with an r4400 as well.

i'm open for everything :D

did you set a breakpoint? if yes how?

seeing cde, motif and all that on a linux pc feels like blasphemy :P
my personal taste of course, maybe it can be used for something nice but i don't wanna see some ipod kiddies making it more "modern"

I only want to know why IRIX made this partition

irix doesn't create any partitions. that's up to you before starting the installation. the first post there has details: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=11322&p=7348669

in addition to that i'd recommend before leaving fx to resize swap and sync the label.

alternatively you could just use "disas" on main and set an explicit breakpoint

exactly that's the point. at some point a product is good. everything that comes after makes it worse but the majority always look for "new" and "modern" no matter what actually has been changed.
if people could overcome the "hey look i got the new version" ego needs we could make some actual progress ...

On a positive note, we can still tune most of it out and stick with some consistent environments like MWM and FVWM...

that's the problem because for linux/bsd the app support is too poor on the desktop. so the only compromise is osx which is totally ruled by fashion as you called it.
on the desktop these days there's no separation between pro and private use which leads to everything being toyed up beyond recognition.

fortunately things change fast in the IT business so there's hope :)

i guess you don't have any installed disk at hand to test both nics?

not necessarily. sometimes small stuff gets through, or small packet sizes or ... you get the idea. the point is that nics are sometimes not either dead or not but something in between. same goes for switches btw. so that's also worth a check ...

and for the record, i take it your netboot setup is proven? meaning that it worked before?
