Thanx for clarifying.

Do you think that this is a wise step? "Just google" was a common household phrase. Now what will it be in the future? "Just alphabetize"? Ridiculous ... Totally stupid!
If man would have been created out of the rib of a woman - how different would the world be?
Btw, google (sic!) "alphabet company" to find a few others named "Alphabet" ...

To have married wrong women.. In comparison, doing rm -r from the root dir is pure fun...

Sad. But in comparison, Chelsea is in a much worse shape...
Why are you always invited to weddings - but never to divorces?
This is not meant politically. But what occurred there last night should be shocking for everyone of us. It could happen anytime anywhere again. Oh, what an insane world we live in.

Shocking and awful chap. To this day I only understand the motive as != Muslim = Death ? Am I wrong and ignorant of what this is all about?

You might also wonder why Mr Obama is "shocked and horrified at this crime against humanity" but was not in the least disturbed when the CIA was bombing movie theaters in Havana.

The more you know about how people behave, the less you want to know. The "insanity" is nothing new, Oskar. :(
So you approve of the Paris disaster?
Don't go, old boy - you'll be missed sourly [well, at least I'll miss our sometimes ardent disagreements :P ]...

Thanx! But just because our calendar dictates it - if you look around what happens in the world even right now, there isn't really much to be merry about. Might be the only one on here - but I'm glad X-mas is over.

Reading Being and Nothingness . Quite relevant for this thread.

Funny. Peter van Nederpelt, "My Password List. Website, Username, Password - Store your user accounts savely". MicroData: The Netherlands 2012 [ISBN 978-1-4710-2986-8].
As the title says, it allows you to write down website/username/password information; there is space for 22 entries per letter of the alphabet - plenty. Quite useful.

Except - a filled in list is probably the most dangerous book you can ever lose...

For me it's the other way around - I change ids but keep the password. Although most people in the world are familiar with it, I never got compromised...

Only 10(!) years ago it was shown that Checkers is a first-player draw: starting from the standard opening position on an 8x8 board, either player can force at least a draw with best play.

But back in 1992, Marion Tinsley - the undisputed #1 (human) checkers player of all time - played against Jonathan Schaeffer's program *Chinook*, with the final result of 4 wins and 2 losses for Tinsley, and 33 draws.

Said match was sponsored by SGI ('Silicon Graphics World Checkers Championship'). Anyone knows on which box Chinook was running then?

interested :D ?

That's quite OT. Start a new thread to get answers.

That's what I was after. I thank you for your help.

PS: in the 1994 match, after 6 games against Chinook - all draws - Tinsley resigned; 7 months later he died of cancer at the age of 68.

I got myself a Nesmuk Exclusive Folder Zabrano 66 [one of only 10 pieces world-wide].

Anyone into this stuff, besides Sudoko? How do you value relative vs. absolute uniqueness?

If so, have you tried any of PIHKAL/TIHKAL to manage yourself?

I own too many watches. Most of them are quartz based [among of them a Seiko "Final Fantasy"], but also some analog ones, like the Porsche Design Titanium from the early '80s. Nowadays I don't care for them anymore. For about 15 years, my EDW is an Audemars-Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Titanium. Don't want to trade it in for any other.

Hakimoto wrote: Question I have is why do you need to be a chemist to manage yourself using Ps or Ts? ;)

Call me a coward - but as a non-chemist, I'd not dare to try my hands on any of Shulgin's recipes at all [the Kindle edition makes fascinating entertainment when riding the subway, though]. Besides, reading Iversen's book on amphetamines is more than enough to keep me away from such stuff forever. Actually, I'd meant to ask whether you chemists had tried to make any of PIHKAL/TIHKAL on your own. Sorry for my bad.

dexter1 wrote: I think that the word chemist in this context is a bit misleading since i think the OP means creating Pharmaceutical compounds by regular chemistry master students (of which i happen to be one). Or do Americans/Brits use the word "chemist" to designate "pharmaceutist"?
:)

DUNNO. Actually, in PIHKAL, Shulgin refers to himself as a 'chemist' [but not meaning a regular chemistry master student, though]. If you felt misled, I deeply regret…
