I've been using zsh 5.0.0 from the /beta thus far with no issues. Anyone else want to confirm so we may move it to /current?

Update guys:

She's alive, the L1 LCD panel says it doesn't have a system s/n assigned. I'll wait for my NUMALink cable to come in the mail then and I'll tap into it from Sanae. If this is a quad 600 MHz system, the the quad 500MHz model I have will probably be up for sale!.

> L2 controller dies make life easier for a number of tasks if you cannot run the L3 software, there are some with ac power in ebay I think.

Please point it out to me if you don't mind... I'm no good at those. If it can talk to Altices, then its worth the investment.

Sure, but the XSGI, Magic Desktop, 4DWM etc isn't even PART of System V R4, furthermore they should be able to release any non-original SVR4 code. Sounds like poppycock to me as at the time of that letter, 2003, IRIX was still being developed. And now, with Rackable continuing to ignore the original SGI legacy mostly, it makes sense that they've no more commercial interest in these things.

For sale is my personal SGI Indy. I've not been using it, and frankly, it deserves a better home. I refurbished every part on the system, here's the specs:

The reason its being sold is because with my Octane and other systems it barely gets touched these days. I bought it when I was considering doing N64 development and debugging, but being that I lack the kit needed, its not really something I need to keep around.

Pics:

CPU: R5000SC 180MHz
Memory: 256MB ( all matching SIMMS )
Graphics: XL/24
HDD: 2.1GB, has 6.5 on it currently, probably needs a reinstall ( I don't mind reinstalling it ) and the second drive bay.
It has the later Sony PSU which allows it to keep cool.
Condition 8/10: the plastic has some blemishes on it to be expected with a machine this age.

Make me an offer, I ship from Richmond, Virginia.

Don't misunderstand - I'm not specifically encouraging a petition, rather, its not conducive to do any form of emulation of SGI computers, so the best chance is to get the source released, although as previously stated that's nigh impossible it seems.

Not to rain on ivelegacy at all, but he seems to not understand English the best, so I think he's not getting that he's missing dependencies for GNU Pascal off the CDs for IRIX, but Pascal itself isn't on the CDs of course. Kinda Development 1O1 here for IRIX.

I don't use my computer itself for image uploading, I upload direct to imgur using the imgur app since my phone lacks direct transfer capability - plus I hate going through the image resizing and other processes. So I don't bother.

Most people I know on here don't browse the site using their SGI's native web browsers, its primarily remote X if at all from the SGI.

So I finally made time and tested the Intellistation 265.

First impressions:

The system I have is in decent shape, not perfect though as the front door is broken off. No matter, got it for $125 so it was a decent deal overall and I intend to drive it into the ground.

Has a copy of AIX 5.3 installed, so I booted into that. I was pleasantly surprised at smit, the management tool. I don't usually care for menu based config, but they give a surprising degree of flexibility. Already impressed! Added a user and started X. Well they didn't install CDE and I don't have the orginal CDs. Checked RPM for a compiler... nada. So I'm going to be busy obtaining an AIX 5.3 copy to install the missing pieces.

System is overall pretty quiet, but its obnoxious that I have to plug in two PSUs... Other than that it is quiet while running and not running. Heavy as a motherfucker, though, the thing clocks in at 82 lbs.

Plans for the system currently are to mess around and learn AIX. Once I learn AIX comfortably I'm going to try getting FreeBSD running on it and using it as a ZFS/SAS host controller. It actually only should consume a max of 480W according to the PSU ratings so not bad at all.

I can't find any express documentation for this, but I have a copy of SLES 11 for IA-64 here, I need to install this onto my Altix 350. As I don't have an external DVD handy, I'll need to do a network install. The SGI documentation refers to dead links for SUSE, and since I don't run Linux on any computers at the moment, it doesn't even remotely apply, even if I was able to view the content.

So here's what I have to work with: DVDs of SLES 11, and a bunch of FreeBSD, AIX, HP-UX, NetBSD and IRIX boxes. What is a procedure I can use, using the stuff I have here?
Entire collection up for sale :(

Doing it in C# is out of the question on IRIX... Why in hell you'd use it for that in the first place is beyond myself.

As for doing the actual thing, you could do so pretty easily in either Perl, C or even shell script, but the odds of a collector stealing from another collector ( and thus possessing the knowledge of the machine ) is unlikely. Thieves generally go for Apple machines in my experience, or Lenovo, Dell and other Wintel stuff. Servers or specialty systems is unlikely. So your idea is unlikely to be useful.

I fully am aware. I was pointing out two things:

1. The obviousness that the .NET CLR won't run on IRIX.
2. The, in my opinion, absurdity of using C# for anything... ( I have a problem with VM languages )

Indeed, thieves would have to be very aware of what I have to go after it.

Adrenaline wrote: Really? You might have been out of the CLR world for a while, but you can pre-jit your application and with the relatively new .NET Native (came out a year ago), it compiles your C# code to machine code without any dependencies on the .NET framework.

Well aware of this, I just don't care. Its in the same class as Java, but worse because Mono is a hopelessly broken piece of junk and the open sourced .NET doesn't run on FreeBSD or OpenSXCE, the two modern desktop OSes I use, unless you happen to use the aforementioned Mono. There'ls other complaints but moreso I've rarely heard of someone so into UNIX being a fan of an Microsoft-derived product (yes, everyone knows abotu Xenix, which is now defunct.)

I program mostly as a hobby as I am going to school for system administration of Solaris, BSD and other UNIX OSes so my need/use case is different. I mostly program in C99 and Perl, and while I could easily make my life simpler by using any one of the shinier newer languages I wouldn't be proud of myself for giving into someone else's ideals of programming. C does the system level job and Perl fills the hole between shell and C.

I do nothing in Windows anymore except the occasional offhanded task an old XP box I have in the closet gets every so often, everything else runs a BSD, a commercial UNIX or an Android.

I've got a third O300 from a scrapper, it works fine just needs new fans because the old ones were cannibalized. I have no use for it as I have two of these already.

It has the IO8 card, a fibrechannel card, one HDD sled with an 18GB SCSI, and is missing some screws. The plastics are in good shape. L1 reports no issues other than missing fans. 4x512MB memory
