We can say that SGI came to their senses...

"SENSE" a word with no meaning in SGI!!!

Just think about the sale of their Strategy Business Unit MIPS... now they're leading;
"…providing of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and business applications".

A market wich grow and grow!.

yeah.. it is very sad to see how things continuing distortions in time :(
I do not understand the insistence of using old names more than a matter of marketing, ...but its only enough to read the "OS" table and see: Win .. and realize the "kind" of product.
Especially in this case, that the purchase decision bypasses the outer beauty, but precisely as illustrated by the posts, in the inner beauty of its architecture and reliability! :)

But where are the benchmarks, SGI? Enquiring minds wish to know...

as noted in the other thread, it's just a crappy rebadged intel server. way to bastardize the hallowed name of Origin. what's next? Indigo? Indy?

maybe we'll get the fabled Indy2! a crappy desktop with 'sgi' scrawled on it

or finally that suitcase Indy; a crappy laptop with 'sgi' scrawled on it.

see the pattern yet?

If they make a product under the name O2 or any of its variations, I will officially be more angry! :x

As industrial design student, in one of the workshops our Carrer Director showed in his presentation class (to my surprise) a Silicon Graphics O2!
As an example of equipment design, not only for its formal beauty (personally I think is the best desktop achieved in history) but throughout the full operational, maintenance, and disassembly. ;)

It's very complex trying to explain to someone who did not have the possibility of using silicon, the added value of SGI had, besides the speed and reliability.

crzy, why is it good for you?

I personally think that is good news that SGI uses AMD technology because their processors are more efficient in relation to consumption, and the trend of development of sustainable products that can be a good point for sgi.
They are also cheaper than the competition!

Hi assyrix

I use QuickTime X for minimum cuts editing on my Mac
First install PERIAN: http://www.perian.org/
With this plugin Quicktime reads any format!

Then you go to the "TRIM" option menu and you'll see below the clip the editor.

I hope that helps! :D
