What does "nekochan" mean? - Page 1

I decided to post something to explain what "nekochan" actually means. I've received e-mail where it's assumed my real name is "Neko Chan" (maybe assuming it's something akin to Jackie Chan).

"Neko" (猫) is Japanese for "cat". It can also be a female given name, but it's not as common. "-chan" (ちゃん) is an honorific, probably best explained by the following entry on http://anime.mikomi.org/wiki/HonorificsExplained

-chan
This is a more intimate honorific and has a more feminine aspect to it. The -chan honorific is used by adults addressing young children, girls addressing girls, boys addressing girls, & girls (and sometimes boys) addressing pets. Sometimes a girl may address a guy with the -chan honorific as a sign of affection. Outside of that, guys generally do not like being addressed with the -chan honorific.

In high school, girls may start being addressed with the -san honorific instead of -chan, though close friends may continue to address each other with -chan. It is also my understanding that women may continue using the -chan honorific if they've known the other women since childhood.

So neko-chan is something one might use to address a cat when unsure of it's name.

Anyway, this is also why the current banner character has "nekomimi" (猫耳) (cat's ears). :)

Ah, I always wondered about that. Cool.

zizban comes from a character I created when I played DnD, as a Fizban (of Dragonlance fame) knockoff. I don't play anymore though zizban remains my board and IRC name of choice. :D

Hi Neko! ;)

...Now, the billion dollars question is  ...are you american or japanese? :D

I'm SO intrigued!!! ...You can't imagine how much!!!
In fact: hey!, post a picture of you finally! :D ...I'll do the same if you starts the wave! ;)

Why not just a piccie of everyone of us placed on each one of our avatars?
...Oh well; don't be so timid! :)

Your identity is even more hidden than thoses of "Jason Bourne" from "The Bourne's Supremacy", and "Charlie" from "The Angels Of Charlie"!
Actually, Neko looks exactly like the avatar picture. Neko is an AI come to life (a la Ghost In The Shell) whose programmer watched a crap-load of Anime. The AI needed some sweet hardware to run on, so it took over a vacant O2 it found hooked up to the net, and here we are today...

Nobody can explain how the O2 that Neko took over sprouted real honest-to-god cat ears and tail, however. It works better if you just accept that AIs can do anything.

I'd like to know what the tag line says. I made a half hearted attempt to translate it a while back, but got nowhere. So I gave up! :D

Don't worry Neko; we are only joking! ;)

Let's see:

we have the "Neko" mean...

we have the "Chan" mean...

Now... what's supposed means "Noko"?

Isn't it more like "I think porn is inappropriate" or "Porn is bad for you" said in some kind of polite way?

Hmm, I thought I already posted that but I can't find it.

otoko no ko = boy
onna no ko = girl

koneko = kitten

Hence:

neko no ko = catkid (play on words, also the title of an art book by Kazuhiko Tsuzuki)

I went with it because it's kind of neat and it was easier to register on IRC/websites/e-mail since "Neko" is usually snapped up pretty quick. It's still kind of popular though and I'm not always first on the scene (couldn't get a Gmail account with it).

Pretty much - "ecchi" is just the letter "H" spelled out in katakana which started as an abbreviation for hentai - though ecchi is now considered a bit less severe and normally just means indecent or lewd.

The quote is Mahoro from the anime Mahoromatic - she yells it all the time during the series.

Hey, thanks! :D

I've always really loved my inside kid! ;)

In fact my post was always suggesting that if you looks the anime series with bad eyes, you can find there some kind of erotic charge not so convenient for under 12 years childs, and maybe more appropiated for adults...

And these fact was always a little bit an intrigue for me. But if you are asking me; I'm a lot sure that I'll prefer the kids seeing some kind of idealization of the young female forms, than those others series showing a crappy idealization of the war.

So; I'm enough clear now?

And, please; don't came to me telling that "Each Eye See Only What Like To See"; because the young females idealization on the anime is so evident as the war's apparatus on those other violence series that everyone here can see just tunning a kids TV Channel... With the only difference that anime is cool, and the young girls idealization is PRO-LIFE, while war is AGAINST-LIFE!

...And yup!; We always love the price-down on SGI hardware! And I don't know of anybody hating the fact of see futurely our kids purchasing a workstation money left by the tooth fairy!

Maybe, many of these boys at least will get a third point of view, regardings of M$ Windows 2075 and the lastest KDE/Linux version...

Oh, and by the way: I'm not attempting start a war taking as main theme the anime; I've discovered the anime on this site, and I rispect this form of art same or more than any other; and my post was only a joke to "Hamei"!

Just a question:

...are you of 12 years or older?

Explanation:

Just another joke! ;)

As you can see; sense of humor is not too bad, and it does not hurts if everyone knows that is a joke! ;)

Cheers! ;)

Hello Neko! ;)

Ask to "TheMacOSXFlies"/Angel ; he was who sent me the Gmail invitation. I'm pretty sure that he could have an invitation for you too.

As you know, in the Gmail accounts there is a randomly selected number of users that can send until (5) invitations, and unnafortunately, I'm not resulted selected. But I'm grateful with Angel by his kindness with this free 1GByte mail account! ;)

I'll drop a quick note right now to Angel, anyway; advicing him.

Take care!
Cheers! ;)
