I have 3-phase, need it for the O3800 and one of my (very) big HP PSUs (HP 6681A)...

i was thinking of mentioning Paris (france not texas) but driving habits are like politics, each one thinks that his place is the worst in the globe

I've driven in Paris and found driving OK (in fact I find driving in France better than Germany). I guess the big surprise is that, so far, not many Canadians can use their indicators (also an issue when I drive down 101 from SFO to San Jose)...

Just spent two days tramping around Banff, really enjoyed a walk by Lake Morain today, still some snow around at the higher levels.
Will head back East over the next few days, of course I plan to drop by Spheres in Kelowna to look at the test equipment etc - anyone visited them before?

Wandering around Chilliwack today (a town in BC) where I came across a 2nd hand bookshop where I found a copy of 'The Soul of a New Machine' by Tracy Kidder....Something to read on the remainder of my holiday

Ah, so I see you are beyond hope now (sorry, local joke ;) ).

Got the joke! Actually that is a nice highway

Will spend a few days in Victoria.
A LOT of homeless people here, reminded me of San Francisco, must be the mild climate.

btw. ate at a place called 'Dakota' last night in Chilliwack, really good food.

yep - but it isn't just the LCD can get hosed by the cold. Many electronic components come in three temp grads, military, commercial and industrial. This is a MASSIVE oversimplification but basically a lot of parts (ICs, displays, caps) can't take cold or heat.
For example, he plastic packages on commercial ICs can absorb moisture over time - freeze them or heat them and bad things can happen....note why in critical apps you use ceramic package ICs....
Bottom line don't store the computer outside the range ~5c.....+40c.....
A lot more than the LCd will get damaged....

I was going north from San Jose on HWY 101 on Wednesday - I saw they closed 101 for a while, I guess that was because the President was visiting Facebook...

Actually HWY101 is my Bete Noire at the moment, Sunday night I landed at SFO, collected my hire car from Avis and drove down to San Jose. Got about 10 miles south of SFO when I (likely) hit something on the road and it destroyed the tire, I managed to pull over to the edge of the road, the rear tire was shredded, only smoke and some rubber left... looked in the trunk - instead of a spare Avis had a can of emergency tire filler. This is not much good without a tire!! I called they emergency roadside assistance number....After 2 hours a tour truck turned up and took me to San Jose airport Avis....well that was the plan but the height restriction on the rental car lot ment he could return the car! After another hour of goofing around I finally managed to get another rental car...... I am NOT impressed by Avis or HWY 101).......

I have my dual rack Onyx2 system for sale.
dual rack
Graphics (2 x GE16, 4 x RM9, 2 x RM7, DG5s)
24 CPUs (most 300 MHz)
RAM 24GB
you have a lot of flexibility here, run it as a single compute system and all the way to a full fat Onyx2 power system.
lots and lots of spares (FC disk array, CPUs, RAM, RMs, plastics, power cables)
collect only - you will need a large 'Sprinter' type van. I can help with loading etc
you also get an Octane, keyboards, disks and enough SGI bits to keep you happy for years!
located near Tuebingen, 50km south of Stuttgart, Germany
looking for 750 Euro - PM if interested
