Music? - Page 3

GeneratriX wrote: Yes, I think pretty much the same. I need to refresh my mind for the older albums, anyway, since I've not heared some of them since my very best LP age, and I also ignored some of them! Good point. I need to complete the puzzle! :)

I prefer the post Flo&Eddie (around 1971-ish) stuff myself but if you take the time and listen to earlier albums and look (listen) beyond much af the vaudeville stuff that is going on you'll find some really mean music lurking around.
If I can't fix it I can fix it so it can't be fixed.

Even 1971-ish albums were already out of my scope at my biggest time as LP buyer/listener (around 1978 to 1991 or something...) so, they will sound all of them "brand-new" to me! :)

After that I had a big time as digital listener, and acquired bad habits as Andreas Vollenweider, Kitaro, and more and more high quality but extremely bored new age stuff! :D

Thanks to God the good and old rock&roll came to rescue just in time!
After deciding that I would jump into FZ's works, and not knowing with which album to begin, I simply :D acquired ;) his compleet (more-or-less) works in lossless format:

While Apostrophe' is still one of my favourites, and Overnite Sensation as well (especially the flow of "Camarillo Brillo"), the technical awesomeness the polymodal "Rhymin' Man" (Broadway The Hard Way), and switching style two bars at a time is really amazing, and the irony of doing something like that over a C&W bassline.

It's a fairly severe case of "far too much good stuff" until I can actually listen to it all... Of course I tried Weasels after sky's recommendation and it was thoroughly enjoyable but demanding. I made the mistake of trying to multitask while playing "Didja Get Any Onya?".. and pretty much just sat and listened the rest of the album..

I haven't heard stuff like this in years.. Not since drum corps days.. where we would be occasionally ordered to "now play that in Ab Phrygian"... not sure if that's a marimbist thing or just a weird drumline thing..

‎"at this very moment on the stage
we have drummer "A" playing in 7/8
drummer "B" playing in 3/4
the bass playing in 3/4
the organ playing in 5/8
the tambourine playing in 3/4
and the alto sax...blowing his nose..."

Very cool; I would like to get some FZ vinyls at some point to try out my next turntable... but I'm thinking more in something like thrift stores or flea market! You know, it seems to me like an honest way to honor the time while I try the older Zappa disks, most part of them I never heard, to see if I like them too... :)
hey gators & rockers, how's everyone doing?

i'm acrobatting between brazilian soul and calypso while seizing the last days of my summer brake:
- take it easy my brother
- from a logical point of view

yes general, nothing like digging the crates to find favourite vinyl on a cool sunday :D

Hey there, Fu! ;)

Indeed! ...that's one of most enjoyable things from my actual city: it is plenty of places like that! Not too much time lately to shop for second hand vinyls anyway, but I'm already doing serious plans, and there is some "new" turntable on the pipe! :P

I'll have to try both links later!

..and, here we go with an acid one for 80'ers:

The Travelling Wilburys - Tweeter And The Monkey Man

You can like it or hate it, but I find amazing the lyrics; it is a whole freaks-movie-script condensed into a song.
Enjoy!

About the subject The Monks... oh well... I guess I'll need some kind of lobotomy to remove from my brain "I Can Do Anything You Like" and "Space Fruit" among other songs... how the heck they were shielded from me for so many years? Tanked music before the tanked-anything age? :D

Never had too much interest for punk/ska movement, and now I hear them and I like a good chunk of their music. Good! I want more! Maybe along the rest of the weekend, maybe not... we'll see. Time to sleep a bit!

Keep adding. All the best,
Diego

I'm slowly uploading this album to youtube, since it apparently doesn't exist at all anymore. This was one of my father's favourite groups. He saw them twice in Ottawa and also in Toronto (about 4 hours journey by car). One of the shows, they did a 5-minute intro to this song, with lots of fog and other special effects, shivvvering and whispering, and that eerie solo guitar wailing riffs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0cV3qZ1mpA

Sounds like I need to come down there for a visit  you say the countryside is beautiful?

Baroque music will often help me get "into the groove" when I'm working. I may have mentioned it somewhere else, but the following internet radio station streams quite a good variety of music - http://www.1.fm/station/Baroque/History.aspx
60's and 70's rock: Zeppelin, Sabbath, Floyd, Doors, Joplin, Hendrix, Stones, Purple....
90's pop and rock
Spanish Classical Guitar: Sor, Tarrega, Bream, Segovia

Mexican Mariachi music :) simply cool with some tequilas. My favorite mexican mariachi singer is Antonio Aguilar

Hey ya! Grab your bag, move yourself over here for some time, and you'll learn to like it! :)
...my city is as flat as can be, so, provided you're not married like me, from my point of view there is only one thing to look: girls! Oh, of course, there is the flea market, vintage stuff from places around Pichincha, including a few of them plenty of vinyls.

And then, if you travel a few Kmts. away from the city, there are wonderful natural places to visit. Mountains, rivers, and sea. Granted, you'll like it! ;)

Ah, yes. It's been a good while since I've been to a proper Argentine steakhouse, let alone one in Argentina... ;) http://www.flickr.com/photos/guardian45 ... /lightbox/

Maybe tomorrow I'll take an extended lunch...

I took that photo as far away from your country as possible https://maps.google.com/maps?q=la+pampa ... 6prNxX3TmA

I'm new to the flickr but quite like it! I've almost used up the free uploads for a month already  (60% after one weekend...)

Is that one of our family-attended restaurants at the periphery of San Telmo at Bs. As., or is it some "La Caballeriza"? It really looks like that! :P

Wonderful dish and red wine, and looks very classy; the kind of stuff one always likes! Buen provecho, y salud para los comensales! ;)

Wow!, that's amazing! ...you can eat foods from the argentinean La Pampa right at the middle of Amsterdam!

I noticed how fast and comfortable Flickr feels compared to other picture places, and like it a lot. Never tried it myself to upload my own picts, bu I use it all the time to look for visual references to places, equipments, etc...

EDIT: hey!, that's you! :)

This video reminds me of that old realityengine demo where they are showing off texture mapping. Also, the camera motion is straight out of early 80's CG.

I also like how my country is famous for bacon ^_^

Now for something amusing: imagine you'd a hard drinking evening [maybe, with a bottle of Hendrick's, or Highland Park Thor, or Organic Premium Vodka {which received the IWSC 2012 trophy - made in Austria, of course!!!}]You just want to go to bed but as there's no lady around to be held tight, you turn to music lulling you in nicely. Which one would you choose? My favourite is Jon Mark, "The standing Stones of Callanish". What about you?
