Hi Nihilus,

How is it going with the NES FCEU emulator?
any progression?

Looking forward to play with it
I downloaded xmame 0.70 from your directory on nekochan but am finding it difficult getting it to run, I have a rom set in a directory but xmame keeps telling me it can't find the roms, even though all the files are present. Xmame also tells me it can't find the resource file in .xmame. I've tried looking for docs and setup/usage help but can find none. Any help would be appreciated - what do I place in .xmame, where do I place rom sets, and what command line should I use? Thanks!

Hi there,

As my fuel has a DDS-4 drive on it I'd quite like to get it to backup the machines on my network (OSX).

Is there a nice GUI driven backup applciation I could use ? Anything in Nekoware or IRIX native ? And that's free! :-)

Thanks

Mark

Some time ago I compiled bacula, which included a GTK gui. If there is nothing else already available in Nekoware, I'll do a proper nekoware package of bacula.

Bacula is quite acceptable for home use, but I'd recommend Amanda for more critical stuff. It's free as well and works quite fine on Irix.
neko_bacula-2.4.3.tardist is available in /beta.
Please note that the QT4 and the Gnome gui are not installed by default (because of the heavy dependencies). They can be found in the neko_bacula.opt.bat and neko_bacula.opt.bgnome_console subsystems.

Thanks! As soon as I get some DAT tapes I'm going to try Bacula and Amanda out.

Has anyone attempted to port newer mame version that support CPS3 roms? (eg. mameui32fx, etc...)
I would like to enjoy the OpenGL-based Irix apps remotely. I can get to the Irix desktop using the Nekoware VNC server and the TurboVNC client, but only the X apps run OK, things like Showcase won't show up. Which is no surprise, one needs an OpenGL-capable VNC server/client combination.

Alas, the TurboVNC server would not compile under Irix because it needs the "turbojpeg" library. Which cannot be compiled as it seems to be based on the Intel Performance Primitives (IPP) library. There are other Makefile issues as well, but those could be taken care of, the main obstacle is turbojpeg.

My question: has anyone had success on compiling and running the TurboVNC server on Irix? If yes, then all help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Inoshishi
There are some other places to look for ROMs there are even sites that will burn you DVD's... That being said, there are many ways to get the old sets of ROMs... As for the NeoGeo games, might as well use a halfway decent PC or old G4 Mac with good amounts of RAM, they will play just fine..

Thanks for the tardist! Still just got to love the old games.

Cheers

At Oxford I use amanda for the big stuff (I back up over 5Tb per week to my DLT4 system on amanda). But for home I use tar and label the tapes with , backup format, system name and a date.
