The collected works of ulenz

Take a look there. I've done the installation and it seems to work correctly:

How can we make the Software public available on the seti@home-server ? Is it possible to upload the files to a nekochan-server with permission of the programmers ?

I am using boinc4.58. In order to change the rights for the boinc-/seti-files I used "chmod +x * " in contrast to the installation advice in that thread.
That's right. Nevertheless boinc4.58 works fine on my Octane R12000@400. And don't forget that even R12000@400 Mhz is a little bit old fashioned compared with the power of actual x86 and G5-cpus.
But I am proud to say, that my "mighty machine" is still able to take part in the seti-search. Therefore thanks to all guys who made it work. :D
How much time does it need to complete a workunit on Octanes or Fuels ?

At the moment there's a setihome-client for Irix. But I don't know, if somebody will compile a client for setihome@enhanced. I am myself betatester for MacOSX and HP-UX.
Does somebody have informations about such a development activity for Irix ?

Lars Bausch ("dotsch") is the developer for HP-UX. It may be that he could give you some advice to handle the code. I am testing his version on HP C 3600 PA-RISC which runs fine. :D

Huhuuuuuuu, anybody out here ? :(

Thanks !

When will you succeed in compiling a working client ?

Just forget it.........

Unfortunately nobody needs SGI to build Linux-operated Opteron-boxes. And that's the true problem of the company which will kill it. The times, where SGI built unique Unix-workstations for graphics jobs, have run out. And SGI will ever be too exspensive in comparison with its competitors. Moreover it cannot offer the same support structure like Sun, IBM, HP, Apple etc.

seti@home_enhanced has been released now. My PowerMac G5 is crunching for it using setiathome_enhanced_5.12. Unfortunately there isn't any client for Irix until now.
It seems, as if Team Nekochan will have to stop the work. :?

Crunch on!

Without a client for seti@home_enhanced ? :?:

This is okay. The new client is searching much more precisely and therefore needs more cpu-time. Running MacOSX or HP-UX, it's the same.

Well, guys, let's face it: Irix is out of the game as far as distributed computing is concerned. Rest in peace !

What is NASTRAN ?
Image
Well, I don't have any problems running einstein@home and setihome@enhanced on my PowerMac G5 and MacOSX.
Let's face it, guys:
The crunching power of older SGI-MIPS-cpus is poor in comparison with actual AMD-/Intel-cpus. Moreover, there are only a few machines available. Therefore it doesn't make much sense any longer to develop Irix-clients for distributed computing. Too much electricity consumption and too less crunching power. :(
