Eric, does MaXX works correctly with multiple keymaps for you?
I use

Code: Select all

setxkbmap -layout "us,ru" -option "grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:caps"
for layout switching and when I'm switched to russian I can't interact with windows using mouse under MaXX DR3 anymore, hotkeys still do work though.
Moved setxkbmap to different switching hotkeys but it didn't help.
When under CDE I don't have such issue.
Please help :)
Thanks!

For example, if the GTK themes were a perfect match of the Motif SGI widgets (they aren't but let's suppose they were), would it be prohibited to include such theme within an application package?

if there are Motif(standard not SGI Motif) based theme, hum i guess it's fine. GTK+ is different because the look & feel mimic SGI's Motif. I would suggest to use MaXX's themes and add the MaXX's license and copyright. this way you are covered.

hey again! I am pretty sure it's Motif related. DR3 ships with both Motif-2.130 and Motif-2.3.1. However, 5Dwm is linked against v2.1.30 and I think that's a limitation for multiple-keymaps. newer Motif handles better. Haven't done any tests yet... have you try to restart the WindowManager (5DWm) after switching keymaps? you can do it from Toolchest or from the command line :# tellwm restart (if I am not mistaking). keep me posted

In the meantime, I've ask a friend of mine (Peter Kovář) who has using 5Dwm with several keymaps...

here's an example of his command line :

Code: Select all

setxkbmap -layout 'us,sk_qwerty,cz_qwerty,de' -option 'grp:rwin_toggle' -model pc105

Hello all :)

Here's a preview of what I am working on. The new SGI Motif 2.3.4 modern look and feel start to take shape (used in the Keyboard Preferences app). Also experimenting with border thickness and anti-aliasing fonts which are all user-settable, btw ;)

Got to run... Would love constructive feedbacks

excellent point about the round icons and app switcher... I did it cause (like you said) it's the norm. I made another 'flat' look & feel for icons based on the original sgi look. will be posting it soon

he's baaaaaack!

Sorry for the lack of updates. My health has been up and down for quite a while, but I think we've figured it out :)

Updates:
1) HP acquired SGI... I've reopened the discussion and waiting for a reply
2) I retain the rights for MaXX and binaries/installers must come from maxxinteractive.com as of now.
3) Working on new code and looking for c,c++ and Java developers
4) Fedora 25 and Debian8/Ubuntu 16.04 are the supported releases
5) New links (see below)
6) Incremental releases will be the way to go.

Correction: Fedora 24 is the version. Too many uncertainties for ABI compatibility, the intro of Wayland as default Windowing System and Python 3.6 (for anything Blender)

That would be awesome! ViewKit is sadly one of those great technology that felt into a black hole when SGI went chap-13 and loose interest in its desktop technologies :( I only have binaries from a BXPro version... I am using ViewKlass for MaXX and it does pretty much anything I need it to do. I could tell you more offline ;)
