I've just ordered a "confirmed SGI" adapter from someone who *seems* to know what he's talking about, and I've sent the original seller on ebay a rant telling him he should be more accurate in describing the item. I think he discreetly redirected my rant to /dev/null though.

When it'll arrive, I'll pick up from there with my Indigo, I'll keep the forum updated for what it's worth.

Cheers mate.

Did you by any chance buy your adapter from this guy? If so, I'd be curious to know how it works out for you, and if not, I'd like to know your source.

I think I've seen 814-*-* as well, for disc sets, e.g. "IRIX 6.4 for Onrigin, Onyx, ..." which would be 1 OS disc, 1 Apps disc and a booklet.

Quarter inch tapes start with 801-*-*, a tape distribution (tape(s) + printer relnotes) starts with 806-*-*. I'll see if I can produce a list of my tapes.

Oh, and no "definitive" list is complete without merging in this: http://www.sgistuff.net/collection/software/index.html

You mean like this ? I've merged everything but the Pipeline stuff in, and I think that's a good place for me to stop for now. The Pipeline part numbers don't look sane (Probably because the same part numbers kept getting used from 91-97), so I'll leave that to someone who is more qualified. I also briefly considered merging some stuff from Ian's SGI Depot , but his CDs aren't in order, so I'll leave that to someone with more patience.

Now all you need to do is install RISC OS for it. Linux is too boring for a system like that.

What an absolute pain RISC OS is being... tried it on a Pandaboard and there's something seriously broken. More than an hour to boot, 45 minutes just to log in. Doesn't work right. Will start from scratch and try to figure out what the heck is going on.

In the meanwhile, can someone tell me where I can get 5DWM for Ubuntu? maxxdesktop.com seems to be down.

It's up right now, but from looking around on their website, they only support x86 and AMD64. It's too bad.

I'd just like to see a newer version of OpenSSH, personally.

I decided to mirror ftp.sgi.com and oss.sgi.com just now. I'll share with someone involved with the nekoware ftp server once it's done, if they're for some reason unable to get the files themselves.
