So I was thinking, has anyone ever seen an Indigo prototype or an Indigo2 prototype? Or maybe even an Octane prototype? We have seen the O2 prototype and a Fuel prototype, but we haven't really seen any other SGI prototypes. Has anyone seen any other prototypes?

SGI even sold remarketed Tezro prototypes directly for a very brief time, if I recall correctly.
I'm not sure about Indigo/Indigo2 prototypes - there were several rebrands/case styles for both that I've seen confused as prototypes though.
I've heard of Octanes/Octane2s with "prototype" labels but I'm not sure a different (clear?) case was ever made for them.

It turns out that when reset, the WD33C93 defaults to a SCSI ID of 0, and it was simpler to leave it that way... -- Dave Olson, in comp.sys.sgi

Yes, and interesting the case has a slight Impact Purple tint, while the stands have a distinct I2 Teal tint. Mixed set, or was SGI just visualizing the two finalist color choices?

Hey, that's my old set of Indigo2 transparent enclosures! And that's my kitchen table! I sold those on eBay several years ago (not the kitchen table).
I can only vouch for a couple SGI computers, but I was a mechanical engineer on the Octane project and we definitely never made a set of clear enclosures for that model. We made very few of the Indigo2 transparent enclosures (less than 20) and I remember a lab cleanup when we threw most of those away.
