Working RAM Part Numbers for 1st-gen Altix Systems

Apparently the Altix 350 can be a little fussy about what RAM is installed, and I'm finding it difficult to identify known-working parts. A few searches of the forum going back to 2006 didn't add much. If you've got the part numbers for something you know works in these systems, please feel free to share it in this thread.

The same parts look like they should be compatible between the Altix 3000, 330, 350, and Prism systems...

* Part number was included in a hinv posting from a working system; parenthetical bits from a web site
** Details from a printed tag from eCyclePro, claimed to have been tested with a RAMCHECK tester
† There's no documentation of 4GB DIMMs working in A350s, YMMV.

Edit: Added the DATARAM 63716 part.

Mine is fitted with 8x Samsung M312L6423ETS-CB3 - PC2700R-25331-Z (PC2700, DDR1, CL2.5 ECC). Funny enough, on the identification sticker, some of them sport `0410' on the top right corner, while the others sport `0411', but there are no other visible differences.

Probably different production dates, week 10 resp. week 11 of 2004.
Now this is a deep dark secret, so everybody keep it quiet :)

Double checked the 8 sticks of these I have - they show up disabled upon boot in my Prism, resetting the errors/reseating doesn't do a thing.

So if someone needs/wants them - let me know, I have no use for them outside of my Altix 350s/Prism.

They are due to come Thursday so I'll try them then and otherwise I'll just swing by smj's house this weekend and trade him some great Micron 2gb sticks :)

Thanks for the update BetXen, that's great info!

Adrenaline: Er, what? I have four lonely 1GB DIMMs for the Altii, the rest are lowly Samsung 512's.

(waves hand) These are not the DIMMs you are looking for .

I have 40+ DTP63692B 2GB DIMMs for sale if anyone wants to make me an offer.

And 70+ 512Mb DIMMs part number M312L6423EGO too.

All removed from a working Altix 350

I also have a load of 1.6Ghz 6Mb cache Itanium CPU's if you want :) and the power boards if needed.

Might have some others in some chassis I've not looked at for a while.... think we have a complete rack of 350's still in storage, not been switched on for a year and have been robbed of PSU's...
In order of use at the moment..... :Fuel: :O3000:

Currently looking to buy good :Fuel: and :O2: :O2+: machine.
Just for kicks, I tried the Micron 2GB parts again and captured the console. For the record, they were working fine in 32-bit Xeon servers previously.

Note that these 2GB parts give a "CSUMERR" during an L1 "serial dimm" whereas the working DATARAM 1GB parts in the other bank just show "NO DATA". (The Samsung 512's that I have show a version number or something.)

If I have the Micron 2GB parts in the lowest bank I get the same condition shown here, but the EFI won't start with a complaint that there's no RAM available (regardless of what's in the next bank).

Continuing on, I get multi-bit failures when the Micron 2GB parts are being initialized/tested. Things like "ACT:0x000f0f0f0f, EXP:0x00ffffffff" make me think there's some sort of banking/interleave thing going amiss here.

I also mistakenly picked up was sent four Samsung 2GB M3125720... instead of the pictured Infineon parts, because both had HP part number 331563-051 - which I believe I've also seen on the known-bad Micron MT36... parts. So anything with that HP P/N is probably out, and odds are high any adjacent P/N in different capacity is suspect as well.

I have some Elpida parts coming to try, and some Kingston. And some Micron MT18VDDF12872 G parts which I'm now more dubious of, since they carry HP P/N 331562-051...
