Doing a text search on sidefx's website for "Irix", the most recent hit is from a press release dated 2002. Time to dust off my copy of "Blender for Dummies"...

Excellent version,
One of the best working .. 6.5.67, not even one crash ...
Thank you
I get the following:

Code: Select all

:~/Desktop/houdini$ source houdini_setup_bash
The Houdini 6.5.67 environment has been initialized.
:~/Desktop/houdini$ houdini
ERROR: could not obtain GLX visual!
Most likely cause is a lack of 3D acceleration. Check your configuration.

Code: Select all

glxinfo | grep direct
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect

Will this not work through a forwarded X session maybe?
shouldn't this

Code: Select all

LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$HDSO:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH"
be LD_LIBRARYN32_PATH ?

I believe that LD_LIBRARYN32_PATH should be used on 32-Bit Irix such as a sgi O2.
My sgi fuel is 64-Bit and therefore LD_LIBRARY_PATH should be used.

no, for 64bit machines it'd be LD_LIBRARY64_PATH. for details see http://techpubs.sgi.com/library/tpl/cgi ... /ch01.html

actually since techpubs will be gone soon i attached the pdf as well just in case

greetings,
there's a way to obtain an apprentice (non-commercial) license for houdini 6.5.67? I've tried to run it on my O2 but there's no way to obtain via sidefx server.
Thanks
The answer is just one page back, but I'll post it here anyway:

http://license.sidefx.com/get_nc_license.php

The version 8.2 license is said to work for all versions of 6.

So. If I download the Houdini hosted here I can get a license from side effects since the 8.x lic works for it?

That'll be cool. Would love to see old school Houdini

Supposedly! Give it a try and post back if it works. Or if it doesn't...
