Your Octane will stay on red without HD but the startup screen is supposed to show up. I have seen problem like your with 13w3->vga cable or maybe
your monitor dont support octane default resolution. Worst case, the display adaptor is dead.

Maybe a sync on green adaptor can do the trick.
But I never had succes using 13w3->vga adaptor with S.O.G adaptor.

and 1 old Mac II VI (or something like that)

I only use my Octane and PC really
all the others a colecting dust.

I tired both with gcc and mipspro 7.3 and they are both slow.
well on my octane r12k 300.

oh and the sound suck but this is maybe because sdl sound driver
is crap, I have to try with esd.

Posted the tardist on neko ftp site. to use this you will need the datafile
from http://www.labyrinth.net.au/~trandor/abuse/

and you should use esound SDL audio driver.
oh and the tardist do not select the software by default
so you have to custom install it sorry.

did you downloaded and installed the datafile in the proper directory?
the tardist dont include everything

to fix that sound problem you most use esound sdl driver.

try:
% setenv SDL_AUDIODRIVER esd

I would like to know how is the speed on your system.
for me I get good sound but the game freeze from time to time.
Im using an Octane R12K SSE gfx without tram.
