So clock for clock the R12k & R14k are basically the same it seems, at least for this test.

Not really a surprise as from my reading the R10k was the last major upgrade to the MIPS based CPUs and future versions were just minor tweaks and die shrinks. Shame really.

I really like this system! Good job with the CPU, I'd never be game to run it without a heat-sink (although I'm sure it would be fine).

These were pretty cool, I had one that ran NT4, but the L2 cache died or something due to overheating and it got binned :(

They're pretty small, although they are a bit bigger than most thin clients.

Much smaller than an Indy. Shame they had so many issues!

Wow looks great. Nice work, I'd love to see some screenshots of IRIX 4 if you get it all working!

Where in Aust? I'm in Sydney.

I might be interested. Are you after any other sgi gear?

I should be able to help with this. PM me and I can send you details.

It's not this specific industry, it is people in general, you just need to learn to ignore the crap and pick up the jobs you enjoy doing (and stick around with people who are decent human beings).

Hey All,

I've done a little review of an SGI Indy, most of the info is common knowledge here but I am interested in some feedback!

Okay I have made up a small playlist of videos. I've now got something for the indy, o2 and octane.

Hope you enjoy!

Me personally I would use the O2 R5200SC.

I did a bit of a youtube video about the o2 that may interest you:
