The collected works of coolfox

Hello guys, new to the forums. I just picked up 2 Indys. Both R5000 Indys, both with XZs for $6 each at a computer recycle shop. (found a friend locally who traded an XL to me though) Now I confirmed the Indys work fine when I installed Irix 6.5 on one with a 2GB SCSI drive, however I want to go the SCSI2SD route as I really don't enjoy random errors that pop up on traditional hds anymore heh. My question is, what settings does the SCSI2SD need on it to work with the Indy? When I tried it with my Indy, it would pop up with a "SYNC Negotiation Error, resetting scsi bus" upon boot. When I try to partition and format the drive, this would always pop up as well, but it would proceed. Then when I try to install the installation tools, it would refuse to do it and say it can't find anything on the SCSI CDROM drive. (I know the CDROM drive works fine as it would install on the traditional HD just fine). Any help would be most appreciative!
Thank you for the reply. How about the SCSI2 option, shouldn't that be enabled? Also, should the terminators on the drive be off or on?
Well i got it to work. Though, this was removing the physical CDROM drive all together and network installing with DINA. Strange...
I thought so too, but I tried every single setting there is, without termination, with..etc..
Found 5 of these sealed at a recycle shop. Anyone know what revision of 6.5 it is? Says SC4-AWE-6.5 REV.ZA

Yeah, I'm aware of that, but looking at the release page it says SC4-AWE-6.5 Rev ZC: IRIX 6.5.21

I'm guessing http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/IRIX_6.5.19 ?

That's not correct. The "full" ASE/AWE sets were revised several times to include updated point releases, development foundations, libraries, and other disks in the shrink-wrapped package.

Unfortunately, I don't think that there is a complete list of ASE/AWE part numbers on the net.

I forget lettering scheme for the ASE/AWE part suffixes, but they do not strictly correspond to sequential numeric releases. I may be mistaken, but I think that some of the kits were specific to particular regions or hardware options. There are a handful of examples listed on the wiki at http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/IRIX_6.5_E ... _Revisions

interesting, so I guess the only way to tell is to open one up huh.
Looks like 6.5.19 and a bunch of other fun stuff. Could you please update the wiki?

Thanks!

I counted 18 different CD's: 4 x 6.5.19 overlay, Base doc, Applications, 4 x Freeware february 2003, 2 x 6.5.12 Demos, 4 x Found1/2/DevFound/DevLib, SNMP access for HP-UX MIB and ONC3/NFS3.

It's been added as an extra AWE revision entry.

Got another revision, 013-2477-001 Rev A is 6.5.

Comes with:

Irix 6.5 Development Foundation, MipsPro 7.2.1 Compiler Patches June 1998, Irix 6.5 Foundation 1, 2, Irix 6.5 Base documentation June 1998, SNMP Access to HP-UX MIB 1.1.2, ProDev Workshop 2.7, Irix 6.5 Installation Tools June 1998, MipsPro Fortran-77 7.2.1, ONC3/NFS Version 3, MipsPro C Compiler 7.2.1, Irix 6.5 Applications June 1998, Irix 6.5 Development Libraries
Picked this up recently, but I decided I have enough SGI stuff. It's a boxed Indy 5k, with all of the fixings, cdrom drive, camera, keyboard, mousepad,..manuals, extras, etc. Even has the original receipt and the monitor that came with it (monitor isn't boxed though). The Indy itself is on the bottom..from what I understand it was owned by an SGI employee who bought it back then, used it very little, then put it back into the box. Would there be an interest for this?

Yeah, June 30th 1997
Oh sorry, I'm in the Bay Area, California (but will ship international) I have a bunch of software that came with it (including irix cds, photoshop, webforce, hotmix, those indy game cds), some of them not even opened.
I probably should heh
San Francisco Bay Area :P
Nah not expecting some outrageous amount. I was hoping around $350-$450...so far I've really only received offers that are about the same price as a Indy R5k which is kind of disappointing, but oh well.

Edit: I guess it's my fault since I asked for offers. I honestly pulled the above $ out of the air as well. Just trying to raise some $$ for the upcoming CAX arcade show. (Having a few machines there and I want them all ready :P )
