Waiting for Playbook still. I love me some QNX.

That said, if the playbook with a $800 price tag for no reason, I will probably get an iPad2.

Edit: saw I missed a few words in there... haha

I'm typing this on my now-vintage ipad 'classic'. To be honest, I was unaware (and still don't care) they had a new version out until I came across this page: http://www.core77.com/blog/object_cultu ... _18682.asp

Having the camera would be fun but not really.. It's not really something you can be seen with in public :P

Yeah, it's nice that it is there now but I can always use the camera(s) on my iPhone instead.

The new iPad would be awesome if I didn't already have an original iPad. The main upgrade I see is the speed (I never even use my cell camera--preferring my Nikon p6000) which is nice, but not enough app writers have built big complex apps that need more horses. Apple and Omnigroup seem to be the few companies doing that, and when more jump into the game a dual core CPU will be more compelling. (actually, I want apple to do 'Logic' litethen I would be there in a heart beat.)

just when it seemed they were focusing on low-power quality, here comes the multi-core madness, again. for portable devices -sigh-

i remember sky got one when it came out but i see the rest of you here, how's its battery juice guys? considering it's not user-replaceable, how many hours of (realistic) use do you get out of it ?

never got a chance to test one the way i like (not for 10 minutes in a store)
Real world, moderate use of mine drops it to about 50% battery at the end of the day. Even with the heaviest use I have never had to recharge in the middle of the day. To manage that, I run the screen at 50% brightness, which is plenty bright for me everywhere but outdoors on a bright day.

That's been my experience as well.

It would be nice if there was a very thin stylus for the thing so you could do some decent diagramming with it - the biggest drawback for me. Otherwise its just a web device. I know Job's hates em. Still it does prevent it from being used in meetings where I am taking alot of quick notes, and diagrams.

I've seen people poking at them with various stylus shaped devices, which appear to work well. Keep looking :)

As for me, it is sort of a device that sits in the family room and is used to browse the internet while sitting on the sofa or take it along to share videos with friends. Might have to plug it in once a week or so with occasional use like 1 hour per day.

ipad 1 or ipad 2... It is kinda nifty but it is not going to replace the thinkpad in my bag anytime soon. Thinkpad 2.5 pounds, ipad 1.5 pounds, it's thinner but the other dimensions are about the same, at least when the ipad is in the 'condom sleeve with flap'... What it is good at, it is very good at, but I like a keyboard. I've not used them but BT keyboards apparently work? That will be an awkward setup...

I've never used one, but just search "capacitive stylus". Here is an example:

If you want to do diagramming, take a look at OmniGraffle. It's pricey, but is essentially like Visio for the iPad. If that's not the sort of diagramming you want to do, then I'm not sure what else is out there.

that's my hallucination (replace my mbp when on the go). the make/brake point seems to be the keyboard as if i have to use an external, i'll keep the mbp. judging by the tiny ipod touch 1st gen, the keyboard does a good job in my big hands (funky errors included :) )

I haven't used an iPad other than playing with friends and in the store. I think it'd be great for surfing on the couch or in bed, but for the price I'll keep using my laptop.

The upgrades seem nice, but unless I was addicted to facetiming it's more along the when the one I have breaks I'll upgrade, not a gotta have it. Maybe there are apps that really tax the thing and would see a great boost, but I don't have them on my phone. Then again I just replaced my original iPhone a few months ago.
