Nice outfit. My girlfriend would kill me if I suggested something like this in our livingroom.

it's a means to an end
excellent! :D nice and subtle...

The two candles on top do it for me...
It might as well be a shrine
Hello Ben,

I don't know if your the first but your certainly not the last famous person here on the forum.

Are you still in the music business or into 3D graphics now?
I heard that you also have some Onyx1 towers standing around for rendering...
Wouldn't want to have your electricity bill though ...
:P
I can feel it, my mind is going ....

Yeah, can you believe that.
Makes me remind the old days of the Friday evening show on Veronica radio!

At least I 'm able to give him back some, a Flight Simulator for his rendering hardware:

I started in 1990 with a Mac Quadra 950, Soon to be followed by my first SGI machine in 1991.
It was a Indigo 2 extreme 100 MHz with 32 MB memory running Electro-GiG. My first jobs on it where artwork for the "The Soul Detective" CD
http://www.liebrand.nl/li/gallery/soul.html
and later, a whole series of Thunderdome Commercials.
I soon became a demonstrator for GiG and a reseller for Silicon Graphics, which I kind of officially still am. I haven't sold a new machine since SGI had it's "windows escapade", at which point I felt they temporarely lost it.
That first Indigo 2 cost a whopping 47000 euros and had a 2 speed CD-rom drive costing an additional 600 euros.

As Hardware goes, here's the line-up:
Indigo 2 extreme (used as spam assasin server till last year)
Indigo 2 (no longer in use)
O2 185 MHz (used by the kids)
O2 195 MHz (used by the kids)
Octane 2 x 250 MHz (modeling with GiG and Softimage 3D extreme)
Octane 2 x 195 MHz (rendering)
Origin 200 4 x 195 MHz (server + rendering)
Origin 2000 8 x 195 MHz + 8 x 250 MHz (rendering)
Origin 200 Disk Vaults 16 of them each holding 6 x 4 GB drives (no longer in use)

Hey Ben, looks nice!
At home I always hear complains that I have too much computers (2x O2, octane, origin200, 2x pc, what's the problem?)
but if I can hide them like you, I can stuff the house full without anyone noticing it
And you're right, every home should have one
:O2: Toika :O2: Myra :O2: Fiona :Octane: Lisa :Octane: Sandra :Indigo2: Danica :Indy: Giana :O200: Lara :O200: :O200: Iona :O2000: Aida

I'm lucky because my gf is a geek too. She regularly leaves her two pc's on all the time. I fitted extra fans to them for two reasons:

1. the house gets VERY hot in the summer due to the position of the house in relation to the sun (it hits us directly all day)

2. to cover the noise that my Octane makes :)

She doesn't mind me having a room full of computer gear. My SGI count is five at the moment. I'm thinking of getting a purple 10k I2 because they look good :)
