Is, or

, there [a] good
Nekoware, TGCware, OpenCSW, Blastwave
, etc. equivalent for
AIX
open source/freeware? I've so far only come across several,
Bull
being the more prominent one. But it has very little by the looks of it, certainly for 6.1, or am I looking in the wrong place?
IBM

There is one ... I wouldn't say good ... but IBM themselves have one ... I think I started a search at boulder ibm.com
I could find it but I can not get to my RS/6000s right now...

If you're looking for older AIX versions, you can still find mirrors of AIXPDSLIB around.
For awhile I was looking at pkgsrc on AIX, but I don't know of any repos for that, besides my own tiny one I build for 4.1.5.

I made a disk CD-R or DVD-R with black marker scrawled across it "AIX Freeware"... which I came across just the other day when looking for something else.... I don't recall which repository I got it from but it was the whole repository at the time that I found it.. If I recall, and I have no access to my AIX machines, it was like hundreds of RPM files and compatible with AIX 5.3-003 which I ran at the time... I could dig through my CD pile and make it available, if it would help...

Part of IBMs push to make AIX more Linux user friendly.. Can't upset kiddies now can we...?
Its just what came off that repository and what I put onto optical media.

It's slightly disappointing that there's so little out there for
AIX
, a rather formidable UNIX implementation otherwise and nonetheless. But then I guess it's the kind of industry it caters to, though that's no excuse (
IRIX
has had excellent public freeware for quite some time via the
SGI OSS
site, so does even — although non-UNIX —
OpenVMS
to some extent).
What about

?

You have to remember that IBM exists in a parallel universe. Things there are similar to what we Earthlings are used to but ... different.
