Can't wait to see its other half alive again ;)

Code:
2% /usr/gfx/gfxinfo -v
Graphics board 0 is "KONAD" graphics.

KONAD gfx ? What kind of setup is that ? a G brick ?

If you look at the configmon you can see it is a GE16, RM9, DG5 => IR2E so would be in a graphics brick.

Nice setup!

Added sound:

Iris Audio Processor: USB audio revision 1.0, number 0
a.k.a. the Griffin iMic - it was plug and play <no need to edit ioconfig>. Since there was no sound during the original IRIX install, I did have to set the chkconfig "soundscheme" flag "on" to enable the typical IRIX desktop sounds.

Even the Jazz Singer don't sound too bad when he's singing in an 8x10 room accompanied by the fan in a G-brick :)

I actually have one of the compatible PCI sound boards, but neko hit the nail on the head - there only *two* PCI slots in an O300. Right now that's a GigE and an FC board <tho I'm watching for one of the SATA boards>.

I thought there was an option to put 16 (or was it 64 ?) pci slots in an origin 3-series ? Maybe you need that :)

I've seen O3xxx P-Bricks make the occasional appearance on eBay, but unfortunately the the P-Brick isn't compatible with the Origin 3xx. The Origin 3xx requires a PCI expansion module. If there have been any PCI Expansion Modules available recently <at less than corporate level pricing>, I've missed them. Then there's the whole L1 serial security issue to deal with.

O300 PCI Expansion modules probably rare enough that it'd be easier to pick up a few more PCI slots via the purchase of a second O300.

Absolutely - that's essentially my reasoning when I went with a second dual CPU O300. Gave me a couple extra slots plus additional RAM for comparatively little cash. The extra CPUs weren't bad either ;)

The O350 is a pretty nice step up in that you get three open PCI slots per brick, plus you have on-board gigabit ethernet which saves a slot. If you have two O350s and are starved for slots, you can optionally remove the second IO9 - this gives you a total of seven free PCI slots in just two bricks.

Updated the hinv to include an SAS adapter. Installed it, fired up the system and saw the following scroll by in the start-up console:
Code:
NOTICE: /hw/module/001c01/Ibrick/xtalk/14/pci/1/scsi_ctlr/0:  1064 SAS/SATA firmware version 1.26.0.0

I've got an SATA DVD-RW, as soon as I pick up some SATA hard drive(s) and a suitable external enclosure I'll post an update.

Cool! Went for the 4-port model then?

One bidder bought up the remaining supply of those $45 8-ports you found. If more show up in the future, I'll get one and move the 4-port into an Intel server <where there's lots of room for internal devices>.
---------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: Installed an 8-port SAS3442X. Where the syslog once read
Code:
NOTICE: /hw/module/001c01/Ibrick/xtalk/14/pci/1/scsi_ctlr/0:  1064 SAS/SATA firmware version 1.26.0.0
it now reads
Code:
NOTICE: /hw/module/001c01/Ibrick/xtalk/14/pci/1/scsi_ctlr/0:  1068 SAS/SATA firmware version 0.6.9.0
