I see that a lot of users are using big and fast hard-drives in their O2s. So the O2 is capable of cooling them sufficiently at last. (which I did not expect)

Sorry to hear about your RAM, Geoman. I had some Dataram memory that served me pretty well for about a year, and one module apparently died right as I sold four sticks of it. It could have been damaged in shipping though - but it does seem like people have been having issues with it. :(

Yes, the modules from Kingston and SGI are the double stacked ones, which are comparatively robust.
The ICs on the DATARAM modules look like those for notebooks, they are soldered side by side via ball grid array.

Seems like they're indeed very delicate.

Got some pics on its uber-technological wooden base. Will take more when i will mount it in a rack. It's also waiting for a MXE+IO6G hack, im still waiting after the IO6G. Oh and i should plug a KILL-A-WATT on it's outlet, im driving it from a standard 120V 15Amps socket, and the breaker never tripped yet. Im beggining to think that it would draw that humongous 2000 Watts only if it was totally full of XIO boards, and with a 100% cpu load. For now it looks more like a theoretical max current draw than a real thing, like if it had 8x500Mhz and maxed out ram and maxed out directory ram and so on.

So I modded the Shoehorn: I had to remove the 013-1926-002 C metal plate* and sawed away the spacer parts from the pcb that collided with the hexagonal screws at the top of the XIO-carrier + used the screws from the placeholder that was on the XIO-carrier. Fits perfectly now.

*not so easy...

Thanks to you fellow Nekochaners, I flasehd my 3C-996 to SGI-firmware:

So now I've got Gigabit Ethernet up and running at last!

I see you've got it in D ... does that kick you into fastfan ?
"it was the second night of the Fuck Rally at Cal ..."
I installed it on the lower left port. - But the arrow clearly shows D. So fortunately no fastfan.

Strange indeed.
