After 10 years in the Navy my vote would always be Hong Kong in the late 80's...
It is the only place I've woken up after a heavy night with a new tattoo and know idea how it happened...(to this day)

:D Have you ever read any historical accounts of naval engagements in 1800 ? Damn. Give me an aircraft carrier and an F-14 any day. Those guys were insane !

how about something more traditional?
When I visited last August one Sunday they had a very big festival and parade in Harajuku and around the Meji Shrine. Really impressive.. The wooden 'clackers' in the hands of the girls are designed to scare aware sparrows from the fields (Pentium - beware)..
