. Back around that time, maybe one gen before, I vividly remember a flow-based image editing tool (a graphic UI with modules you could plug together to make an image editing "program," like FBP) but I can't remember what it was called. Does anyone remember or have a screenshot of that tool?

According to the Wikipedia article the last Amiga version is "distributed publicly," whatever that means. It also says version 3.6 was the first port to IRIX and DEC Alpha. It must have gone over like a lead balloon on IRIX but it looks like they slogged along with the Alpha port for a while. I can't remember who said it but one of the contributors at Unix Review once commented that "Alpha is the chip that makes everything that Intel does look silly."

We used it to create the WindowsNT/Alpha version of Digital Fusion. I think it maybe have gone as far Visual C++ 5.0 or Visual C++ 6.0, I was doing WindowsNT x86 digital fusion work with VC++ 6.0 at the time.

TVpaint definitely doesn't have a node-based architecture with interconnecting modules - it's a very simple app.
There weren't many node-based graphics apps in the early to mid 90's - perhaps you are thinking of Softimage Eddie? There's a quick screengrab of it here .
