I need to save some space since someone gave me a nice year old Dell thats a lot faster than my current WinXP and Solaris PC's combined. Is there any issues anyone ran across trying to get both OSes to get along on the same system?

I think I'll use a bios boot priority trick and install a separate hd for Solaris. Also, how does the x11 system do with an Intel Expreme 2?

Sorry for the thread Necromancy, but I'm getting an Averatec Laptop with a possible bad hd ( no problem since i have a 30 gig laptop hd In my parts stash) for free. Has anyone here installed Solaris on this brand yet? What possible issues could I bump into?

That little Acer reminds me of a souped up Thin Client. Neat little box.

Man, this brings back memories of my old 735 with a screaming graphics card. That Parrot pic in my Avatar was at 24 bit depth, and the PEX 3D demo made the DirectX spinning cube look lame.

I'd use the old 8-bit card for now, but if you get the chance, get the higher end card. I still couldn't believe what my old 735 could do, and it was a bit older and less powerful than the Leviathan you lucked up on.

I hope one day to find another HP-UX machine. Unfortunately I sold mine after it broke down, but I hear its new owner is making progress on it and the old HP 318 I had.

Just got my first Sun " Hope I can fix it" Project.

Its a Ulrtra 5 with 64 mb ram, 4 gig HD, 270mhz cpu.............................................And the dreaded u13 boot error

Anyway, I'm not sure what OS it has as I'm not very good with Open Boot. Cosmetically its fine except one glaring issue, the top cover is MIA. However it looks like a fairly standard size so maybe I can yank one from a more common machine ( Common in SW Georgia means x86 running windows, this is only the second Sun system I've run across that isn't still in service, and third Sun overall).

Guess I'll keep my trusty old G4 running as long as I can scavenge parts for it.

RIP Great Pioneer of Silicon Valley.
