I read somewhere that not all DVD drives work on SGI's. That only certain brands worked - it might be that you have one that is not comptable.

It's weird you used to hear studios boast about their equipment sgi and large render farms. Now days it seems it is all subcontrated out to smaller specialized firms working on just specific parts of the film production. I think this is why it has become more secretive, because they don't want their competitors using their subcontractors. The large production houses have moved from all in-house to sub contracting the special effects computer graphics out of house.

It downloaded and installed without a hitch, I am using a octane 2 single processor 400 Mhz V10, 2 Gigs, works great! no crashes yet. Only problem is the wavefront .obj files don't convert into .IV files. VRML file worked great! cool features , neat autorotation. User interface seems easy to use. I also confirm that it opens in a window area larger than the monitor screen. Resized to the monitor size and saved. when reopened it remembered the correct screen size. Cool! Need a program like this for animation = easy to use.

Request for a new function to wings. Please add support for the 3D glasses if possible.

Wings worked great running on a Octane2 with V12 and dual 600 Mhz + 8 Gigs + run over eithernet.

National Computer Graphics Convention in L.A. in the early 1980's. Sgi had a video display card that fit in IBM PC's for speeding up AutoCAD displays. Always wanted a sgi workstation, but back then they were priced in the stratosphere.
Also big back then was Apollo computer, which I eventally got two DN10,000's which had 8" floppy disks wow. they were deskside servers. The other workstation on my want list was the symbolics, A.I. and graphics for animation, and before that a Chromatics workstation.

It should be seen , I have used 3 drives in octane2's - just plug and play. maybe the drive needs to be formated , or is defective.

Is that glowing logo on the front, the expensive 3d engraved glass sgi logo, or am I mixing it up with the prisim.

The Tezro is on my wish list either a rackmount unit or deskside box.

Its was just a high end custom machine built out of apple macintosh parts motorola processors 68020.

The case is now the coolest thing about it.

which was followed by the NEXT computer.

The cool one from that decade was the symbolics graphics workstation.

Thanks for posting the pictures, very cool looking machine inside. Much more to it than I thought, my apoligies for earlier comments, sorry for jerking your chain . Still a sharp looking enclosure. Mr. Jobs does a good job in producing innovative high design products.
