I got in 2 it because it is inspiring, I havent seen other workstations like the ones from SGI they are unique, irix soft and the architecture of SGI computers are pices of art from my point of view, I'm in to design and computer graphics, these things are stable as hell, I have to admit that the new SGI hardware is not as inspiring as it use to be, but I'll love to see new worksatations from them in the near future, the days of IRIX are ending wich is sad (the 64 bit linux bla bla bla), I like the fact that these guys made the whole thing, Hardware, Software,

I like computers as long as they arent Winshit based

OK the new prism..... I'm not sure what SGI is doing or how they are placing this computer on the market because there is no information on their website it says $8,500 to $39,000 for the desk side level, so what do I get for 8500? single itanium ? 512 ram? 90 days of support? an overpriced Linux box? I was expecting something like 4000, I just don't get it, what is so especial with this machine the 24GB of ram and the PCI slots RIGHT? that's it

They have good experience on overpricing their harware, remember the 320's they were so expensive, so unspecial, and they try to sale their products to the corporate market only, just call SGI or try to send them an E-mail, they will anwser:

YOU ARE A COMPANY RIGTH? WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR COMPANY? HOW MANY PEOPLE WORKS ON YOUR COMPANY, HOW MUCH MONEY I CAN GET FROM YOU? HELLO SGI THIS FUK!NG NEW COMPUTER IS A WORK STATION JUST LIKE THE IBMs OR THE HPs, they are people that dont have 20 employes and still needs a decent workstation.

I guess they are just interested on big clients, like Nasa, and stuff like that.

no , no no, but wait guys it has USB WOW, AWSOME USB, WOW, cant wait to pay 8500 to use those 5 USB 2.0 ports, cool SGI,

(I didn't mention apple g5's cuz I dont concider them worksatations with those crapy graphic cards)
