Hardware Wanted

WTD: 73GB 15K 68pin SCSI disks...

I need a complete Prism rack enclosure (Power level, 17U) in more or less pristine condition.

We want complete it with several Prism and Altix components we have
and, besides actually using the machine, show it off bit in our office.

I am in germany, willing to pick it up or whatever... anyone?
Please email here or directly [email protected] :D
Hey Guys,
I am looking for an Origin 200 for parts or a whole machine. The top plastic cover would also be nice.

Thanks,
John

They had an Origin 200 and either a second unit or expansion box at Weirdstuff Warehouse in Sunnyvale a couple months ago, and had been there since a previous visit a month or two prior. They were on the floor under the shelving with all the KVMs in the "main room," all the way at the right end just before you cross into the "back room" (I include that in case somebody decides to call and they need a hint where it was, as much as for anybody local).

They are/were pretty out-of-the-way, so they might well still be there... Don't recall how much plastic was on them, but there was some RAM inside the one on the outside. Probably not one of the fancy front covers that I've only seen in pictures or I'd remember...

Thanks smj! There is one machine on ebay with a good top on it. I have an Origin vault with good plastics and the cool front door with key. From what I have read the chassis are the same but with different guts and I thought it would be cool to have an Origin 200.

What the heck, I found a photo of the units at Weirdstuff on my phone when I was cleaning up. The price tags read $100, but if they're still sitting there that's probably negotiable if you're there in person. YMMV.

Thanks SMJ! After doing some looking I found one on ebay that was listed as a "disk array" but was a 200 with no plastics and two fiber cards for $100 shipped. Now I just need the top plastic.

Well unfortunately, I think I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of members here who actually own Prisms. SGI itself might be the only way to go to fulfill this desire...

With his German email address, THIS might be an idea. That's got to be the biggest cube logo I've ever seen. Think it 'glows', like a Tezro?

That thing is pretty cool. Lots of interesting stuff there ... nothing I'd want, but interesting anyhow :)

What do you s'pose they are doing with all the internals ?

Same seller has been trying to sell the guts of an Onyx 3800 and various IA64 bits for a couple of years now, but his (her?) prices are an order of magnitude out of my range (8K EUR for the Itanium equivalent of the CX brick, RM11's for a couple of thousand etc). Looking at their other offerings, they probably clean out government labs.

WTD: at least five 73GB 15K 68pin SCSI disks. Doesn't matter what brand, or if
they're original or OEM. I can buy, or swap for 146GB 15K SCA. UK preferred.

Ian.
