It turns out that when reset, the WD33C93 defaults to a SCSI ID of 0, and it was simpler to leave it that way... -- Dave Olson, in comp.sys.sgi

Very cool X11 setup! I like that color scheme -- I assume it is the default? Would you mind posting the X resources for mwm, or maybe a screenshot from the machine itself (if that is possible)?

Sure. I'll fire it up this weekend and check. It's just what came on the machine; I don't know if that's HP-UX default of that vintage or not, since I'm this machine's fourth owner (at least).

I think I was stuck in a rut with a saved search on eBay for the 98229D (2x8MB, p/n 98229-66523) kits for some reason - I just did a Google search and found a lot of vendors with the 16MB part 98229-66524 on offer. Two of these make up a 98229E 32MB kit, FWIW.

Best price I saw was US$20 per 16MB board at Serverworlds.com .
Very honorable mention for Pinnacle Micro , who list 4, 8, and 16MB parts at similar prices.
Also making the podium, EZ Systems at $23 per 16MB part.

Other than having just placed an order with ServerWorlds for a couple -66524's, I have no relationship with any of these outfits. Sure it could be cheaper, but this is nothing like what I remembered from the last time I looked...

Beautiful system

I've got a 425 back home at dad's and I recall a larger 040 based system in the late 90's I helped a friend get running. Sadly I think he junked it when he moved to the UK.

I still have media going back to 8.0 for some of my older systems, but does anyone have v5, v6 or "possibly" v6.x that would work on a 9000/310 or 9000/300? I've two with hard+floppy disk systems that have been awaiting software for more than 10 years.

The 98229-66524's work well enough for the PROM self-test and the system is reporting a mighty, ahem, 75,497,156 bytes (72MB) of RAM with the two 4MB boards installed as well. I only pulled it out to test the RAM before they disappeared into the mulch on my desk, but...

According to the HP Computer Museum I've got a 9000/380 - system board is a 98574-66511 and it's got a 25MHz 68040 sitting in a shim/adapter. Two other boards are the 98549 framebuffer (1024x768x?bpp) and 98626A serial board, and that fills the backplane of he 98574Y enclosure.

I've used one like this, back in the nineties to draw bode plots: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bode_plot .

The one I used was a 9000/320, manufactured in 1985; with interfaces going to different measurement appliances used in filters and antenna design. I can not recall which software was used; but maybe this will sound familiar to one of you.
