Shake on Mountain Lion...??

Has anyone tried Shake (any version) on Mountain Lion...???

I have a Mac Mini i7 8Gb and I was thinking about doing YouTube videos as well as LaTeX'd PDF documents for my apps. I think I have Shake 3.5 on the Quad 1GHz Tezro, that is one option, I also have Shake 4.x running on a Core2 Duo, which I think was running Snow Leopard last I looked. (x= 0 or 1 if I recall). But I do most of my app development on the Mac-mini.

BTW, about Facebook...
I also have a page for the company account I do app development on... ("PymbleSoftware").. https://www.facebook.com/pages/PymbleSo ... 2124265954 If I get a certain number of likes it becomes separate or something from my personal page or something like that so I think I need people to "like" it. If you feel so inclined that might help me out. Thanks.

I originally sent this as an email due to nekochan's outage and am now re-posting it here. I say, try it! It works, but may not install.

I read here that it (Shake 4.1) runs fine, but this guy had it installed before upgrading to 10.8, so the installer is AFAIK untested:

Also,
I upgraded to 10.7 from 10.6, then went back to 10.6 after getting fed up with all the "yeesh!" moments and head scratchers. I'm looking into 10.8 and starting to appreciate the changes that have been made, but it seems very one-step-forward,-two-steps-back.

In the meanwhile, I'm quite happy with 10.6... except for the haphazard roll-your-own icloud support that kinda-sorta works. I actually use most of the features in icloud. With 10.6.8 and icloud, mail tends to be a belligerent 3 year old child, ical is a train wreck, etc. The cancelled 10.6.9 that would have added real icloud support to snow leopard would be a great blessing for me. I've bought and downloaded 10.8.2 and it is just sitting there, ready and waiting to feed my poor little macbook (2010 air) to the lions... I will probably try it, just not when I'm in the middle of a project. Maybe next week.

The above article may make you think about staying on 10.6, if you read the next pages.

Another article that makes me think "maybe this Brave New World won't be so bad, and if it is, it'll only be $20 and I still have the snow leopard backups. But I think I might like it after all".

When I was using lion I never really understood the way file saving works, OTOH I never really had a problem with it, and it always did more-or-less what I wanted. I think I'm still young  and flexible enough to be able to eventually figure it out. It's kinda like driving an automatic car for the first time-bizarre and scary, but you still get where you need to go.

This is a really stupid attitude. Change as a result of real improvements is one thing but change just to be cool is quite another. And driving an automatic was never bizarre or scary. Anyone who can write such a retarded sentence is not worth listening to.
I dunno.. my first was an old astro van with broken torque converter, load of cement, and crap brakes. it was kinda scary.

I had a 70-74 Ford van that was so worn out that when I drove it to the junk yard I had to bring a friend to kick the front wheels around at tight intersections :) And the 68 Eldo was so bad, I had to double up the pads on the front to reach the rotors ... my house was on top of a 2,000 foot tall hill at the time. No brakes driving an aircraft carrier down a windy road in the forest, whee :P
Concerning a fresh install of Shake in OS X 10.8 - not much of a problem.

I installed today from my DVD version 4.1 (you’ll need 4.1 for intel macs). Registration did not work with my normal user, so I had to switch to my admin user to enter the serial number.

After the installation the Mac App Store offered the Pro Update 2008-005 which should update Shake to 4.1.1. This seems to be a little bit broken, at least it did remove the application icon. And I could no longer see the version number from the Finder’s info dialog. It should have been 4.1.1, but instead the Finder showed nothing at all.

So I copied a backup of the shake.app folder over the existing folder and changed the permissions back to the same way as they have been before.

Besides this minor issue, installation was no problem at all. And if you don’t work with 10-bit Quicktime movies you can even skip the update from 4.1 to 4.1.1 because it only changes some quicktime components.

Hope this helps.

The modern Apple has change just to be cool as a cornerstone of their business model.

As do many carmakers and practically all clothing manufacturers. Style is cheap (to the company) and has high profit margins.

Monday I tried 10.8. This evening I went back to 10.6 with a wipe and reinstall and time machine restore. I can't say it's bad for every use, every machine, and every hardware, but I personally want my $20 back. It's that bad. Nothing works, it crashes, my battery is dead after 1 day of staying in standby. Everybody calls me a luddite anyways; and I bet the next release won't be supported on my machine. I've kinda wanted one of those powermac G5s, now that they are so cheap and I know that I'm not missing anything with the new OSX I might just dump my PC for one...

probably most consumer products manufacturer's biggest investment; hardly cheap. Especially since nobody cares about manufacturing and that's a race to the bottom. Have you seen the film "Objectified" ? And I really like the style of the "chrome" of leopard much more than lion. Cleaner and simpler.

If shake on 10.8 works great for you and your hardware, wonderful. But for me, I don't like it.

But "It just workls ! it just works !"

As Bill Clinton would say, "Please define 'works'. "

Just spent a couple weeks wandering around with a Macbook and an iPad. I was soooo happy to get back to the antique SGI box back home. Indigo Magic r00lz.

Advertising is the biggest cost. They don't spend squat on design or manufacturing, compared to advertising.

And this little stunt of creating a false shortage ... well, Assist just bought a Samsung. One third the cost, does everything the iPhone does, she walked in with money and walked out with phone and a smile. Feel free to lick my hairy balls, Apple.

I probably won't have one. Still working our way through Windows 2000 here :P
