IRIX and Software

Hot Mix 16 Online

Just made the contents of Hot Mix 16 available online . This compilation dates from 1997 and includes a catalog of the major software packages available on the IRIX platform along with some screenshots and promotional videos (including the one where Steve Jobs raves about the Octane ).

Enjoy!

great thanks :-)
Nice, thanks! I enjoyed all the section on motion tracking. Interesting that they mention a lot about NDI's Optotrak in there - my wife still has a working (and regularly used) Optotrak 3020 in her lab, and I remember seeing IRIX as one of the supported OSs for it originally.

I have the whole series. But it's mostly the old ones that have interesting software on them. The later ones are more a HTML-ized product catalogues than anything else.

To accentuate the special identity of the IRIS 4D/70, Silicon Graphics' designers selected a new color palette. The machine's coating blends dark grey, raspberry and beige colors into a pleasing harmony. ( IRIS 4D/70 Superworkstation Technical Report )
