VNC server for sharing the :0

Hi,

I have been able to start another X display and share that, but how do you share the :0 graphics screen?
I have heard of x0vncserver, but I don't know if there is a better way, or if x0vncserver is available for IRIX.
Maybe I am just missing something, but I haven't seen anybody do this.

Thanks,
Doug

You could try x11vnc, I have had good luck with it for sharing :0 on Solaris. There is an IRIX binary for it, but I am not sure how well it would actually work given IRIX has its own X server...

Unfortunately, in this application, I cannot change out the X server.

I am thinking the x0vncserver will work if someone can point me to a version that will work on IRIX.

Thanks,
Doug

How do you mean you cannot change it?

From what I understand X11vnc uses a different xserver. This is a medical application, so I will not be swapping out a qualified Xsgi for anything else that is not "qualified" for this application.

I had no idea. I'd have to double check then (maybe it's an IRIX port specific thing), I was under the impression it streams whatever is on :0. Out of curiosity, does the program rely on OpenGL? Because that might be the bottleneck.

Yeah, it does only stream :0. In fact, you have to own :0 to start the program where as most vnc apps start another server on a different display port.

Mashek: I would try it, it may just work.
