Hardware For Sale/Trade

FS: VAXstation 4000 VLC

I have for sale a tested and working VAXstation 4000 VLC system. The unit has 24MB of memory and a 2GB hard drive running VMS 7.3 (no licenses included... they can be acquired through the HP hobbyist program). The case is in good shape with a little yellowing but no broken plastic. Fans are good and I put the SCSI drive in a PC and ran it through IBM Drive Fitness and it is certified error free. It is set up to run headless and I'll include a homemade MMJ to serial cable and a power cable with it. Also I have an AUI to rj45 transceiver I'll include too so it can be connected to a modern network easily. Asking $175 shipped for the system. any questions let me know.

The most power efficient VAX. Not as quick as the 4000/60 or 4000/90 by any stretch but useful with 24 MB RAM for sure.
Oh, and look at the size of that motherboard. I've often contemplated making a briefcase VAX out of one of these systems.

Yes, I did measure power consumption a while ago... I quoted 45 watts idle but there is no power saving features that I know of in this box so it is 45 watts whatever.

This probably includes 15W for the disk alone. Replacing the disk with an SSD in an adapter would save even more power (and noise) if you want an as-green-as-possible Vax.
