"I'm totally unappreciated in my time. You can run this whole park from this room, with minimal staff, for up to three days. You think that kind of automation is easy? Or cheap? You know anybody who can network eight Connection Machines and de-bug two million lines of code for what I bid this job? Because if you can, I'd love to see him try."
That's like, twice the weight. What the hell?

Someone should throw him a better offer as it's not going to go anywhere at that price.

Unusual set of boards for a deskside Onyx as well. Let's hope that they made a mistake in inventorying them, as a deskside machine stuffed with IO4s and MC3s with no IPs doesn't do very much.

They also have too many EBUS boards for the available slots, methinks.

It's been relisted at $1000 less now. Sooo... I reckon give it 4 more relistings and they'll have to give $1001 to the buyer. :D
1001 usd ??
still too much ?!!

No, I was attempting to be silly:

$2,999
$1,999
$999
-$1
-$1001

Now wouldn't that be awesome? :D
Only a recycler gets paid to remove an old system from a site. And then they try to sell it for $4K on fleabay of course ;)

With two MC3's and no CPU card listed, there's either an error in the inventory or the system is incomplete. It is also in unknown working order so the value is very very limited.

Oh, the maximum weight of an Onyx including it's shipping carton is 300lbs, according to the manual. So I guess this thing sits on a 120lbs pallet
Now this is a deep dark secret, so everybody keep it quiet :)
It turns out that when reset, the WD33C93 defaults to a SCSI ID of 0, and it was simpler to leave it that way... -- Dave Olson, in comp.sys.sgi

That and there appear to be two or three IO4s, which would again be difficult in a deskside Onyx.

Lol :D Yeah, I know... sometimes I don't even read my own posts with it on showing there.

* 003-0290-003 - Scsi 50pin Controller

(ok, I shuffled the order)

I count one (IR capable) IO4, a VCAM, and two MEZs: a SAMZ (audio/serial) and an SCIP. Seems legit to me?
I always wondered why the audio connector box of Onyx1 ASO sticks out of the bulkhead. Could it be the audio daughtercard of an Indigo2 is hiding in there?

Oh, and there are VFE bulkheads, but if you look closely, it says something about the board being someones property. It appears to be gone.

Looks like they corrected the inventory then - I saw at least 2 IO4s (checked part numbers on them because I thought they might be counting HIO cards as IO4s).

Still no IP19, IP21 or IP25 boards, though. Probably a parts box.

A "complete" computer with no processors... nice price too!

Best of luck to the seller
