SGI: Hardware

Hello

Have quad tezro, i mount silicom image sgi Gb ethernet + silicom image fiber Gb dual port.

All connect to switch 6 ethernet and two fiber in the transceiver slot, the switch link active all ethernet and fiber.

Switch level1 GEU-1629
transceiver GVT-0300

Problem Link Down only fiber, ( link logically down) if connect direct the tg2 to tg3 by fiber full work.

I check the tg2 and tg3 (fiber) ifconfig up

modify tgconfig.option
autonegotation on off
1000_FULL
flow control on off

all combination and impossible to make ping to fiber ip.

Any suggestion ?

Umm, there are no Silicon Image cards in the "working devices" list, not even one. Is that what you really meant ?

Because if so, I am pretty sure they won't work.

if interconnect the 2 port fiber point to point full work, ping ok if select primary tg2 or tg3, the problem is in the switcher i think need partcular configuration.

Interesting. It seems to be intended for use in an Altix ? That's the only place Techpubs mentions it, altho I am not the best searcher. It also seems to use a Broadcom chip, which might explain why hinv sees it ? We have no records of that card working in Irix, so would be nice to find out if it does have drivers.

this file = configutation the driver card tigon3, same diver found in irix for io9 board.

This card in trasparent manage for ethernet or fiber.

I have not used one of these cards, but fiber ethernet has several "gotchas".
Are you sure that the SFP fiber module is the correct wavelength for your switch port?

Seems to be a Broadcom Tigon3 / 57xx chipset, pretty neat to know if it works. Silicom makes a single card with 6 ports ..you could build a Tezro router

i contact support lebel1 and request spec the fiber card and i send pdf, write support need to force the card to 1Gb, in configuration tigon3 i put 1000_FULL same result link autonegotatiom down, but is config off autonegotation and when boot irix link up but the switch link down led, in terminal irix make ping to ip fiber and linking down.

If possible the spf transceiver gvt-0300 not work proper but tecnical support level1 writme the fiber is compatible.

The next week i buy other transceiver spf-3001 and test.

This night i make other test. I think The problem is found in the switch or sfp.

i buy 4 SFP fibre ehternet same result not negotiation and link down, the rare is when i connect one or two chennel fibre tezro to fuel directly full work (not through switch) sync, ping and transfer file by ftp max rate 118MB/s.

I have in the Tezro SSD scsi and in the Fuel Fujitsu 15k.

Resolve the problem

I buy other switch NetGear GS110T install the SFP and full work the fiber, make many test and very whell, i mount array cluster the2 machine fuel and tezro by fiber and perfect work. I need only the MPI library for make multi jobs.

How i find this library MPI ?

If I recall correctly, MPI and MPT were on one of the IRIX 6.5 Application CDs. It used to be downloadable directly from SGI and available from them as a separate CD that also supported earlier versions of IRIX, but neither are options any more. It's been a long time since I've installed MPI on IRIX, but you may also need to install the Array Services package, which also would be on the IRIX Application CDs.

Thank you, tomorrow i see in the application CD and i install mpi and mpt, the array have installed.

Tomorrow i rewrite, in the array-view show the two machine if command terminal array who, top and ps read proccess and app running but impossible job cluster multiprocces, before need install Mpi.

The years have gone too quickly.

Ok, application cd, install mpi and array upgrade, the array full work, the 2 machine found.

In terminal write command

mpirun -np 1 maya

the app run and open but in multiprocess not , when i make render only one machine ??

if possible syntax error in command ?
