SGI: Hardware

O2 SCSI problems I do not care about.

I had a DevPlus account with SupportFolio access. SGI pulled it and then I fought long and hard to get access again, then it expired.
Now they want serious dollars for a support contract.

I think well time to pass things along. I am not offering unsolicited support on SGI hardware via email.
if you want something fixed join nekochan, post your own problem, buy a SGI support contract or offer me money.

Dear Sir,

My SGI O2 computer unable to boot, could you please assist me?,thanks in advanced.
I had no experiences with SGI computer and UNIX/LINUX/IRIX OS.

My printenv are:
autoload: yes
console=g
diskless=0
dbaud=9600
volume=80
sgilogo=y
monitor=h
Timezone=PST8PDT
netaddr=08:00:69:10:3f:1b
SystemPartition=pci(0)scsi(1)cdrom(1)rdisk(0) partition(8)
OSLoadPartition=pci(0)scsi(1)cdrom(1)rdisk(0) partition(0)
OSLoadFilename=
OSLoader=sash
gfx=alive
Videostatus=ilegal_env_var
kername=pci(0)scsi(1)cdrom(1)rdisk(0) partition(8)/sash
>

My Boot error are:
dks1d1s8: Drive not ready: Medium not present
dks1d1s8: Drive is not ready
Unable to execute pci(0)scsi(1)cdrom(1)rdisk(0)partition(8)/sash: media not loaded
Unable to load pci(0)scsi(1)cdrom(1)rdisk(0)partition(8)/sash: no recognizable file system on device.

During diagnostic test, all are passed, except SCSI test, with message are:
Device 3 failed DMA test.
error code =IP32.08.0E.01.04,W1=00000001, W2=00000008
press enter to continue, then continue to the parallel port internal loopback test and graphic test, both are passed.

Is it my system HDD broken? or the SCSI bus problem?, should I do LFC ?, or must replace the HDD ?.

How to edit my environment parameter or how to using setenv ?, because after I "resetenv" my printenv change and still unable to boot, I have to put back the env as before.

Thanks for your kind help me in advanced.

Best regrads.
Ronald

I don't have time for this. I am not even reading it.
I black list anything that comes through the company account that is not related to the business.

I get them from time to time. I used to get two or three phone calls a day from one guy who should never have been let near a computer, that alone something off the beaten path. You are in business and in an area I need help with. I demand help with something. I will take up all of your time and never dream of compensating you. I might try that with the local builders, plumbers or electricians, see how far I get.

<cough> You do realize that request for assistance wasn't sent specifically to you? I got the very same message.

If it's not already gone, take a look at the message header. You received that message because somewhere along the line you subscribed to the [email protected] mailing list. The OP was (very politely) following standard protocol for asking a question via a list server.
