Onyx 2

Help again please. From the help you all provided, I was able to get the desktop up once I started the system through the terminal port by starting the system. Unfortunately, I had my cousin over to help me get network going and to also try setting up two screens; bad idea. He knows enough to really F**ck things up. Now I'm back to a system that won't start. I have attached a .pdf that shows what the system shows on the terminal. Can someone send me a list of what to do?

How can I learn more about this system? Is there a book available that shows all commands? I have no background knowledge of Linux or Unix which would greatly help me. Or maybe it's time to go back to school. Or I will just continue to post here and take notes until I figure it all out. And that's going to take a long time. HA

Oh look some book about UNIX or something.. http://m.simson.net/ugh.pdf

You might be expecting it to go into graphical mode and start the X window system. In that case you might want to make sure there is a monitor, keyboard and mouse attached and reboot it and if that fails enter "4" "5" at the menu where you pressed "1" to boot the system to enter the command monitor type "printenv" and make sure console is set to "g" for graphics. If that is what your problem is...

R.

Edit : typo, I meant "5 Enter command monitor"

Also make sure that the relevant parts are marked as "on" when you run "chkconfig"

'man chkconfig' will tell you how to use it.

Yeah forgot about that. From memory, a chkconfig by itself as root will tell you everything that is on or off.
