Desk recommendation - Page 2

just wanted to give another vote to corner desks. i have one with panels mounted between the legs. that adds extra stability (and provides space for putting cables out of sight). i do not see a problem with putting computers on wooden floors though? worst case just get some thin mat to protect the floorboards and isolate vibrations.

for size reference, from left to right the monitors shown are 27", 20" (pivoted), 24" and 15".

also note the modded aeron chair. ;) still waiting for an aftermarket headrest to show up in the mail.
Nice headquarters for the Adventure Team... ;)

Rubber feet generally keep the floors safe from the machines, though all but the latest MacPros pose a challenge. I have those typical clear plastic office mats down to protect my floors from the chair wheels - and what could get ground under them...

Biggest annoyance I have with the wooden floors (probably any non-carpeted surface) is the herds of dust rhinos. I get all kinds of dirt and dustbanks building up outside travel areas, which are now annoyingly close to being sucked into the floorstanding machines.

Also: Nice choice on the Fractal case, if I make that out correctly. Very happy with my R4.

Found a wood/particleboard desk on Craigslist for $150. It is 400lbs fully assembled. It is turning out to be a very nice desk. Unfortunately my new place has carpet :( since the other place I was gonna get fell through. At least this one house was built in 1910 and has some neatness to it.

Looks like a good result - plenty of room above and below for the machines and worksurfaces. Carpet isn't all bad - inhibits dust rhino formation, for example...

Phew, I thought I'd missed the boat on invisible cables. I have more cables than British Telecom have around the country I think.

Not the greatest picture, will take some in the daylight, but my desk system runs around me, so I have stuff behind me also.

The desks are , on the right an ex-dinning room table and on the left a pub table.

Another nice thing about loosing my "home office" (I am really looking forward to this "children" thing happening) is that my work office will get much nicer furniture.
You eat Cadillacs; Lincolns too... Mercurys and Subarus.
You should disassemble the children so that way you get to make some more. That's much more entertaining.
smit happens.
