IRIX and Software

Norton Ghost and Irix

Hi all,

Anyone knows if its possible to plug 2 SCSI 50 pins HDs into a x86 box, and use Norton Ghost to clone 1 HD with an Irix installation into another ?

I'll have to use a x86 because I cant plug both HDs into my Indigo2, because I have only one sled. I dont have any external HD either.
Network installation using Linux seems to be extremely complicated.

HAHAHA - forget norton "anything"
ghost saves files, not sectors.

use linux and you can use the "dd" comand.

if you dont have linux then just use one of those "live" cd's everybody seems to do now.
You can use Norton ghost to clone entire hard drives, I have used it for
sun hardware and it is ok. It copyes the entire hard drive if it does not know
the partition scheme or the filesystem type.

that must be why it names the files as it backs up the drive. :(

no, norton has a table of filesystems in it, but i have never seen irix mentioned.
try it, but dont lose the original till you have tested the copy.
i tried a nortonghost very new version on my o2 root drive
and it didt work to clone the entire drive onto another
cause it couldnt recognice the o2 root drive at all
soo

i wouldnt think you could
