IRIX and Software

mkisofs for IRIX CD

hi guys
i want to realize a pair of CDs pretty able to be read from Irix

i know
  • mkisofs (under linux) can create an ISO
  • Irix uses the Rock Ridge CD extension

so, combining these two information, is something like this ?

Code: Select all

mkisofs -R -J -l -d -allow-multidot -allow-leading-dots -no-bak -o my_CD.iso my_CD

irix supports such cds but the original cds from sgi and other companies are efs
r-a-c.de
do you know a pretty way to make a efs iso ?
there are scripts to do it. since IRIX does not have a loopback mount device, you must create the image as a partition on a hard disk. then unmount it and use it as an input to cdrecord.

if you will only use later IRIX versions, like >5.3, you can just use rockridge. I don't know of any problems using it.

Edited to say except for booting from the disc, of course. and miniroot installs.
