A long shot, I know, but ...

Anyone happen to have an NEC Versa V/50 laptop they wouldn't mind parting with?

(Actually, I just need an LCD panel to replace the cracked screen on my machine)

If you don't turn up anything Versa specific, you might pull the LCD panel and see if you can locate the OEM info/part number. Barring the occasional high-end unit or zealous over-engineering, most laptops used generic LCD panels.

I have a box full of ThinkPads that have been semi-dissected for parts - maybe one might fit the bill
