Not sure if this is normal, but the hard drive on my O2 doesnt stop reading or writing. It sounds like the disc is constantly cashing every 4 seconds. Is this normal? or is there something else going on and if so, can it be stopped.

I had an Indy drive do that. If I remember correctly, it was performing thermal recalibration. Not much that you can do about it.

I am thinking of replacing the drive with a 15K drive. Perhaps that may help?

Yes. Thermal recalibration is a drive-level operation. Newer drives don't do it as much as some of the older (late 90s) ones.
