Hi
I'm fairly new to hpux (been years since I used it) . I've installed via depothelper a lot of the packages from http://hpux.connect.org.uk but hardly anything works due to the shared library path and some complain about library version conflicts. I've tried setting the library path in /etc/SHLIB_PATH but this has no effect. I've also tried to copy /etc/csh.login to my home/.cshrc with no effect. I've tried using Bach and for some reason the shell isn't reading the configs either /etc/profile or .profile. Any tips what I'm doing wrong?

After installing apps from http://hpux.connect.org.uk/ it has been hell. I've manually had to set /etc/SHLIB_PATH to add every single Sub directory of /use/local/lib/ to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and also SHLIB_PATH tedious but mostly worked. The fonts for FileZilla don't show and I get a lot of very odd colours. Assume another library or took kit issue maybe gtk. There really isn't much hpux info online. Tonnes of irix info but hpux doesn't seem to have hobby forums with reasonable documentation.

getaddrinfo couldn't be resolved?? That's a pretty bad sign. I don't remember exactly where that lives, but it should be either libresolv or libsocket. What do those look like?

Oh, heh. Yeah, this is (probably) one of the examples why I stopped using the rubbish from connect.org.uk. There's packages in there that would make your eyes bleed. Missing files, badly labeled stuff, wrong permissions, you name it. Not to say that everything on there is bad - that wouldn't be nice to many of the package maintainers - but there is zero quality control. :roll:

Just don't bother with it. Whatever they have on there, you can build it with pkgsrc yourself. Cleaner, more up to date, easier to maintain, safer. My old post on this is for a rather older version of pkgsrc and gcc, but it's still fairly relevant, I think. I probably have a tarball with my pkgsrc sources+binaries tree up somewhere still.

Yeh the permissions are a mess had loads of issues with file permissions needing to be fixed. I have a copy of your alverware downloaded onto my c8000. I'll read up on it to see how to build using the tree.
