Huel Lights and HuePl vs IRIX

I just tested Phillips Hue Light with a bridge. Using the HuePl http://www.floodgap.com/software/huepl/ from Cameron. It's very nice that I am able to control such modern technoglogy from my O2! :-)

I can make it dim, make it blink but any attempt to change the color (in any way: huelp red 1, huepl hs 1 xx xxx,...) halts with something like this: [i]"error from hue: 6 parameter, hue, not available"[.i].

It's my fault? Or is it a result of some limitation of the Perl on the IRIX (I tried to use /usr/bin/perl and both Perls from freeware and nekoware..). Perl and curl versions should be OK.

No idea about your problem, but it's looks fun and cool.

I'd like to sit in my study and control the lights whilst my partner watches TV.. HA!! She'd wet herself!!

I think Karma has just got me for that evil thought, I've just rubbed chili in my eye from my tea!! FSCK!!!

Yes, it's funny. I put the light to the room where my wife was reading something. An I testet verious Hue possibilities (blinking, on/off, various intensity levels and so)

Don't use huepl, the guy who wrote it is a total dork.

Anyway, what's the firmware on your base station? It's possible it changed -- both my base stations are very early FW because they've never connected to Philips, so they've never been updated. What does 'huepl lights' say? Are these standard hue lights or are they the "non-colour" ones only?

Also, if you pass -superverbose to huepl, you can see the raw JSON going back and forth over the wire, which could be handy.

That's the problem: I even didn't thought that there are non-colour ones. And my ones are the Hue Lux (exactly these non-colour ones). My fault :-(

Yep, that's them. At some point I should add code to detect this. You should be able to change colour temperature at least though -- 'huepl ct xxx'

If that works, then it's probably working fine on IRIX (though the fact you can do everything else strongly implies it is, in fact, working correctly).

I just tried it - it doesn't work (the error was the same as previously). So I assume that the Lux thing doesn't support color temperature changes (but dimming obviously works and that's enough for me ;-) ).

Many thanks (both for your code and for your help)! :-)
Interesting. Well, at least the brightness does!

huepl 0.5 now at least reports that there is no colourmode available for these bulbs (I just got one myself and fixed it up so that huepl load will work right with it). You're right: they seem to have no colour options at all. But the rest of it seems to be working correctly with it.
