SGI: Hardware

Lucid Audio Interfaces

Hi,

I have often seen those Lucid Interfaces on pictures with SGI/Discreet setups. Would you be able to use it on its own, lets say with an octane to record Audio? Is there any good software available apart from the Irix Multitrack and the Discreet Software?! How would the interface be connected to the workstation?

Anyone here with experience?

thanks!

I'm not speaking from experience but from what it looks like in chapter 4 of this document, it can be done: http://download.autodesk.com/us/systemdocs/pdf/EffectsEditing2007_Hardware_Setup_SGITezro-Octane2.pdf

World domination! Or something...

It makes sense only if you can get it cheap enough, because there are newer and cheaper audio interfaces available, like Behringer ADA8200, which is about $200. You can connect it with ADAT optical, just like Lucid.

I have used its older version (ADA8000), and it's pretty good, and even cheaper second-hand.
Thanks for the link and Info guys! Of course I missed the auction I was secretly going for. 8-) Would around 200Eur be a normal price these days?

More like €400 usually.
